I've taken my car in to them twice. The first time was to fix my transmission. When I got the car back, it was making a new noise it hadn't made before taking it to Nelms. I took it back to them and they tried to fix the problem that occurred while the car was in their care. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. I needed my car back and they'd already had it for over a week so they sent me home with a "sorry we don't know what's wrong with it." Against my better judgement, I decided to give them a second chance when my car broke down one month later. This time they managed to fix the problem, but after checking with a mechanic friend of mine who doesn't live in the area I found out they over charged me for parts and labor by about $50 on part of my repair. Also it took them forever to call me to let me know what was going on with my car. I had to initiate contact both times we spoke on the phone and both times it was the same story, we're just getting to it now. They don't work on weekends so heaven help you if your car breaks down on a Friday or something. Hope you can deal without your vehicle for the weekend. I had to have friends and family ferry me to work and back while I was waiting for the weekend to be over so they could actually get to my car. I won't be using them again and wouldn't recommend them to anyone who needed their car fixed in a hurry.

We are new to the South and have been looking for an auto service mechanic since we have been here. NELMS is one business you can trust! They do nothing unless you say "OK" and they only do things that need to be done. They work you, especially when time is crucial. I called in the morning and they took me in the same morning. I highly recommend them. My endorsement does not come easy!

I was trying to buy a used car and needed a diagnostic done on the vehicle before I purchased it. I called saturday to make an appointment and was told just bring it by on monday we'll get It done in about an hour. I asked about making an appointment but I was told I wouldn't need one. I show up on monday, after taking time out of work, with the car on loan from the dealer. At the counter I was told it would take at least 2-3 hours. I had not made arrangements to wait 2-3 hours and being that Nelms is not near anything I had no where to go for 2-3 hours. Extremely poor customer service and bad business. I drove 25 min out of my way to use them and they drop the ball on service. I didn't even get chance to see if they do good work. DO NOT USE!!!

I was on the road from SW FL and my ac had quit blowing cold in 90 degrees. AAA referred me to Nelms Auto Service to check it out. These guys were very professional, fast, efficient and friendly (the technician even added some complimentary brake fluid when he spotted the level was down) They added some coolant and thoroughly checked out the system and I was riding cool for the rest of the trip to NO GA and all the way back to SW FL. This turned out to be a very good referral experience. I'm pretty old school when it comes to auto maintenance and if I lived in Woodstock, or anywhere near, I wouldn't hesitate to have them do any auto repair work. I could tell just by the way they handled this one relatively minor service and talking to them and being in their shop. Nelms, the guys you can trust!

New to the area and we had already tried a couple of local repair shops that did not impress me. Found Nelms was just down the road with many positive reviews. We have taken our vehicles there a few times already and have appreciated the prompt, straight up maintenance. When a shop tells me what I "don't need", that's a sign of a quality shop. They assess the condition of the vehicle and even if there is a questionable item give consideration to weather it is worth throwing money at a vehical that may not be worth it. This is a shop with common sense and not looking to drain your finances with one visit but instead look for return business. The shop is clean (more important than you think)and the work is solid. Nelms will be my new place for repairs and hope to stay with them for years to come. Until I relocated I had a shop that I stayed with for 20 years. Nelms is very similar to the shop I had to leave and that is what I liked about them. We are looking to replace one of our vehicals and they even told us what to watch out for regarding a specific model.

After an exhaustive search, I selected Nelms Automotive to install a new Tremec transmission; fuel pump and dyno tune the engine in my 1966 Corvette. After several hundred miles I continue to be impressed with the work done by the Nelms team. My selection was based on a friend's recommendation, and the impression the work would be done right the first time. I was not disappointed, and can easily recommend Nelms Automotive to anyone needing automotive maintenance or repair.

Been taking both my Toyota & my Jeep Wrangler to Nelms Automotive for the last few years. David & his staff have always done a wonderful job of taking great care of both of my vehicles. I've recommended to many of my friends & they've always thanked me for finally helping them to find a dependable mechanic that you can trust & treats you well every time!!

I had a horrible experience with a mechanic in Smyrna and had begun to loss faith in mechanics, until Nelms. I was referred by a friend and from the 1st conversation over the phone I was impressed. Dave got my car in the same day (even though he was booked) and I got it back the same day. At no time did I feel taken advantage of, which I have felt at every other mechanic I have been to since living in GA. I am bringing my car back today a week later to get the rest of the work done that he recommended last week. This is my new mechanic and I have already referred everyone in my family! So get ready Dave your gonna be a really busy man!!!!

I brought in a Dodge Dakota with whose brights did not work and the right headlight would not turn on. I had originally brought the truck to a Dodge dealership, but went to Nelms because Dodge would not have the part for a few months!! (Dodge's supply chain was disrupted by the bankruptcy). I told David what Dodge diagnosed the problem to be. It turned out to be a different problem altogether. They found the malfunctioning part, and ran diagnostics through out the entire headlight system because that part rarely goes bad and is quite expensive. I really appreciate the work they put in to find and fix the problem. David and his team are fair, polite and skilled. I will be going back to them every time my truck has a problem. I would highly recommend them.

It is really hard to find a mechanic you can trust.. I was referred to Nelms by another close by mechanic that was too busy to help me today. Well I am so glad that I went there, the people were super nice, and seemed very honest. If you are new to town and looking for a mechanic.. try this business first. I am glad I did.

This is my third Kudzu review on auto mechanics. The first mechanic I had to make appointments when it was always convenient for him - not me. The second one had someone to answer the phone, but was discourteous when it came to calling me back upon leaving a message. David is accessible or DOES call back. He's been my mechanic for about a year now. The work is very good and the price seems fair. This one I highly recommend! He is the total package.
