I am a nurse so I know Doctor's. Dr. Simon is above and beyond others. He is always extremely knowledgeable and seems to really care about his job not just do it. My husband and I interviewed him and he was citing journals and current recommendations of best practice from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Some people just do their job, others really care about their job and go above and beyond like Dr. Simon. Not only is he knowledgeable but he is so nice and patient.

As a nurse, I expect both excellent quality care and bedside manner. This practice is fabulous. They return calls, ALWAYS get my children in the same day if necessary, explain everything, relate well with my kids, and most importantly, they listen to me, the mom, the one who knows something just isn't quite right. They also can (kindly) tell me when my children's issue is nothing to worry about. I wish I could find an adult physician that could immolate the way that these docs treat me as a valued, educated consumer. Having to pay extra for a hearing test and a yearly records fee is well worth the care, respect, and compassion these docs and their staff provide to our family.

We just recently moved to another area of Atlanta and Dr. Simon is now too far away for us, which is why I will let the cat out of the bag and tell everyone what a terrific pediatrician he is. We've been with Dr. Simon since he was first board certified, and our two daughters have grown with him and his practice. He's become a very busy doctor over the last ten years, but he's worth it. He's intelligent, patient, and caring, and never bullies or intimidates a parent. He is much busier than he used to be, however, and sometimes you'll have a bit of a wait.

I almost cried when I read the review from the parent who complained about the testing. If a test is necessary for your child it should be done whether your insurance pays for it or not. Sounds like your child was being taken care of. Let me tell you my situation. We asked my son's PED. 3 times to send us to an ear nose and throat doctor to test his hearing. The answer was always "Let's Wait". Finally, fed up I called & lied to the nurse. Told the Nurse the doctor told us to call for a referral . Got one ...My son failed his hearing test. When my son was 9, 12 & 13 months I asked the DOC about my son not crawling or trying to walk or stand....answer I got was "let's wait".-- NOW MY son is 19 Months old just started crawling... standing up with help on his own. (Still can't stand alone).Took me many calls to get a referral to "Baby's Can't wait" program..( A State Program) My doctor nor anyone else has told me what is wrong with my son. He is on Peach State Ins. During open enrollment I'm putting him on my insurance ...So he can finally get help from a good PED> I don't CARE about the price for finding out what is wrong with my child.. I think that comment was sad because sometimes the tests you think aren't necessary might be>YOU ARE BLESSED IF NOTHING IS WRONG WITH YOUR CHILD..BUT WHAT IF ? .. Your DOC was doing his job!!! I'm searching for another PED>> Anyone Please help my Family find a good DOC> in the Douglasville area/ I might try this Doc. Sounds like a GOOD ONE !

I consider myself to be a parent that is fairly well informed and has notably high standards for what I expect of the so called "experts" out there. Dr. Simon is one of the FEW clinicians that have lived up to my expectations - not just with regards to his expertise and experience, but also his overall personality. He is very cultured, with exemplary bedside manners. Most importantly, he is incredibly secure with himself. He respects an avid and informed parent's desire to seek more answers and explanations, and handles such discussions with amazing patience, while respectfully maintaining the superseding position of an expert - in a way that is very gentle, yet very assuring. A true doctor and gentleman - I very highly recommend him!

We've seen Dr. Simon for 4 years. His office is more focused on money than on quality of care. We used to feel he cared most about our children but now it's running lots of tests the insurance companies don't cover. We will have to find a new pediatrician focused on our children.

I understand and share this family's frustration, as their insurance company has denied coverage of a hearing and vision screening evaluation that are an essential part of a child's well checkup. Using new technology, we can detect vision loss present in 1 of every 29 children as early as 6 months of age, preventing permanent blindess through early intervention, whearas traditional testing is often not sensitive until age 4 to 5 years of age, which may be too late. Unfortunately, this particular insurance company has arbitrarily decided not to recognize the value and importance of evaluating children for early blindness and hearing loss in the pediatrician's office. Every test that we perform is for an important reason in order to detect a problem or help make or confirm a diagnosis and provide the best care to our patients. As to the charge that we are running lots of tests the insurance companies don't cover, to the contrary, every procedure or test that we perform, we make sure ahead of time that we have it in our contract with the insurance company as covered - unfortunately, the insurance company exploits every loophole they have possible to not pay, in this case denying coverage for these services as not part of preventive care, even though these tests, by definition, are preventive care screens. Finally, our physicians actually run very few tests, as we feel that spending time talking with a family and child to obtain a good history, performing a careful medical exam, and careful thought are the most essential aspects of best patient care. That's what I expect from my doctors, and so, I believe, should my patients. Best Regards, Geoffrey Simon, MD
I have seen Dr Simon with both of my children for the last 7 years. He understands my children, not only regarding their health, but also their personalities. This caring bedside manner extends beyond set hours and has made Dr. Simon an integral part of our family's health care. He is highly recommended by us!
