I decided to make an appointment & see one of the doctors because he was on my insurance list. I've been wearing glasses since I was 5 & contacts since I was 12 so you can say I've been to my share of optometrists & I must say I am pleasantly surprised with my experience despite the reviews. The time it took to get examined was longer than I had imagined however, it was one of the most extensive & thorough exams I've ever had. I had tests performed that I'd never had before. The doctor answered all of questions & did not rush me at all. So to me, it was well worth the wait. Will I go back? Yes! I also enjoyed working with the staff too, they were very friendly & professional. I'd recommend this practice if a quality,extensive & thorough exam is what you're looking for.

This was my first time visiting this office and it will be my last. My first appointment I had to wait over 30 minutes to get my exam. The office is not laid out well at all, you have to constantly move between rooms. I had to wait another 15 minutes after the technicians checked my eyes for Dr Boyd to come in. He kept switching between me and a patient next door so they must have been very overbooked. He had me try a new brand of contacts for a week assuring me they were cheaper than the Acuview I have been wearing for years. I had to reschedule my follow up appointment and it took me two days to get in touch with someone to do so. My second visit I had to wait almost 40 minutes just for him to come in and write the prescription. I declined to get my eyes dilated because I had already been away from work for almost an hour. I looked up the new contact brand on several different websites and it is over double to cost of my Acuview. I am not happy and will not return.

I've worn contact lenses for 30 years and have a strong prescription and astigmatism. I've seen many eye doctors and Dr. Travis Wright (Dr. Boyd's associate) is one of the best. Throughout my exam and fittings, he was warm, knowledgeable and thorough. At my request, we tried Air Optix (from the recent commercials) but they didn't work for me, so I asked Dr. Wright to put me back in my current brand- which he did, with a better prescription. Dr. Wright listened to my concerns and did not pressure me into trying expensive specialty contact lenses. To my surprise, my new lenses arrived very quickly, within a few days after they were ordered. Unlike the other reviewers, I had no problems with the staff- they were very nice and professional. The optician even readjusted my bifocal glasses (from another doctor) so they finally work properly for reading. Thank you, North Point Eyecare!

I had been a satisfied patient of Dr. Boyd's for over 10 years. The rest of my family usually goes to Thomas Eye Group. Since our insurance was ending and they could not get an appointment in time,I suggested Northpoint. When I called to make appointments I asked the woman how much my cost would be for contacts. She said they had no record I had ever gotten contacts at their office. I was told she would check into it and call back. This went on for over a week with promised call backs and being disconnected over four times. Finally with only one day left for my insurance, I called again and another woman was very helpful and was able to give me the cost. In the meantime,my husband and son ordered their glasses. They were very happy with the exam. Two days later a woman called to say they were incorrectly charged. My husband owed $20 more for his frames and my son owed $60 for a contact exam. When my son gets an exam at Thomas Eye they give him a prescription for glasses and contacts. My son checked his receipt and noticed a charge for anti-reflective which he was not asked if he wanted. My husband said the woman who totaled the charges was new and asked another woman to check if she did everything correctly. They wrote off my husband's additional charge but refused to provide the contact prescription unless my son paid $60. Dr. Boyd is a good doctor but some of his staff is lazy and incompetent.

As is standard in the industry, new patients are given a diagnostic pair of contact lenses to try before ordering their annual supply. This often requires one or more follow up appointments before the contact lens prescription is finalized, as the patient adjusts to a new lens brand, curvature, and/or power. This patient was offered an additional pair of diagnostic contact lenses, free of charge, to tide her over until her annual supply arrived (which takes a few days to ship from the manufacturer). There was miscommunication between the patient and the staff. The patient intended for "getting contacts" to mean that she would receive an annual supply at the initial examination. The staff interpreted "getting contacts" as meaning the customary initial pair of diagnostic contact lenses, which the patient would have received had she gone through with the contact lens examination.

Terrible customer service! I called to make sure I could get contacts before going out of the country and they said I could have an exam, skip the dilation and get contacts. When I got there, a different story....not only did they change their rules they said they don't have contacts in stock!! I highly recommend NOT going to this eyedoctor...they are not straightforward!!!
