Rude & unreachable staff, 2/01/2016

After hearing wonderful things about the labor and delivery units / staff at Northside Forsyth hospital, my husband and I thought the OBGYN in the hospital complex would be a good place to receive... our prenatal care. We could not have been more wrong! On our very first appointment we arrived at the practice and the front office staff immediately began to snap at us saying that they had attempted to call us for 3 days to reschedule. It turns out, the office had the wrong telephone number in my file, but despite the fact that it was the office's clerical error that caused the problem we were treated poorly and with obvious contempt for the rest of the visit. On our second visit we discussed with the Doctor a chromosome panel we wanted to have done. We had blood drawn and were told to expect a call in 7 - 10 business days. I received a voicemail saying that the results of the test had come in on a Friday - 15 minutes before the office closed. Since I was unable to return the call before they closed that day, I called the practice's main line at 8:30 AM (opening) Monday morning. We were told that a nurse would return our call. After 5 hours (and 2 more attempts to get someone to answer my call) I have still not received my lab results! The inability to receive my own test results and rudeness of the staff are only two of many problems we have encountered at this practice. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for your prenatal care!

NEVER COMING BACK, 3/30/2015

I was a patient for all of two hours and was turned away after traveling miles to make this appointment only to be told I wouldnt be seen due to the dr needing to make a delivery... Understandable. I... was upset and the office manager Donna tried to compensate me for the mishap. she claimed to put me on with a Dr Lambert who was NOT TO BE ON CALL the day of my appointment. I get there and sit and wait for 45 minutes for the nurse to come in again and tell me that I AGAIN would NOT be seen due to a delivery.... Now if I was supposed to be with a Dr that was not on call... why was I not seen??? I will never recommend this office to any of my friends or family. their receptionist constantly had an attitude not only in person but over the phone as well. As i was making my appointment the very first time the woman asked me how far along I was and I proceeded to tell her I believe I am 14 weeks.. She replied "YOURE 14 WEEKS AND HAVENT SEEN A PROVIDER???" so rude and so incompassionate to the face that one I didnt know I was pregnant for a while and two I had an issue getting pregnancy covered on my insurance. I do not appreciate the attitudes or the mishaps, again I WILL NEVER GO BACK NOR WILL I ALLOW MY FRIENDS OR FAMILY TO GO THERE.

Skip the midwives

Being a nurse myself, I saw no problem to having our 2nd baby delivered via midwife. Although I had mostly seen Dr. Barrett, I had also met all three midwives and Susan was on call with Barrett the morning I went into labor. There was a major complication with the delivery that could have led to my death, no exaggeration. Thank God for the L&D nurses at Northside Forsyth! They controlled the hemorrhage situation until Susan could be called back to further control things. The problem is: she didn't complete the job, so 4 weeks later I was back in surgery with a physician cleaning up her mistake. The biggest problem was: I called the office twice, spoke to two midwives, explained my concerns, and was quickly brushed off. It was only when I spoke with the physician at 4am, as I was contemplating a visit to the ER, that I was advised to ultrasound ASAP. There the problem was discovered and hopefully rectified long term. The moral of the story: although there is a conception that women listen to women, in certain cases just the opposite occurs. Whether it is because we believe we understand each other's overly emotional reactions, we hate our own profession (i.e., "she's a nurse, she thinks she knows everything"), I don't know. Whether a male physician is merely concerned about a lawsuit, I don't know. The physician's name is on the paperwork, even when the midwife delivers, at least at this practice. In any case, I will never see another midwife in this practice.

Would NOT recommend

Office staff is RUDE and condescending, NOT a kid friendly atmosphere if you need to bring your children for any reason, long waits, intolerance of kids in general. Midwives rotate, so you don't know who you'll get in labor, and Drs. are intolerant of any questions asked. Test results are offered, but never available, appts are always running late (over an hour and a half!) and the atmosphere is hostile. I won't return.

Trouble scheduling appointments!

I was looking for a new OB/GYN and thought I'd give Dr. Stein a try after being referred by my primary care physician. I made my appt. in JULY for the 1st week in Sept., about 2 weeks before my appt., the office called to change my appt. because their new office they were moving too wasn't ready yet. They offered me an appointment ONE MONTH later or an appt. at their other office, which is another 15 miles away. I decided to go for the other office appt as I needed my appt to keep up with my prescription. The Friday BEFORE my re-scheduled appt., the office left a voice mail on my cell phone telling me the doctor had jury duty that Monday and they would need to reschedule me for another day. With this kind of scheduling problems (and I know everyone gets jury duty...but this was the SECOND time I had to reschedule!) I just gave up and went elsewhere.

Midwives Great - Drs Hostile

I've used Margaret for several births - great midwife, very supportive of natural childbirth. If you're low risk, you probably won't have to deal w/ the doctors and your birth will probably be wonderful. But, if something happens and you need to see the doctors, especially Dr. Siegel it's another story. I have found Dr. Siegel to be very demeaning and critical and unwilling to answer questions. He saw me as non-compliant when all I was doing was asking questions. I will not return to the practice.

WONDERFUL!

Margaret Strickhouser, depsite the high demand for her services and unprecendented reputation, is like a sister. She gives you her utmost attention and never seems hurried. Your concerns are her concers, no matter how many times she has seen this before or how insignificant in might be in reality. I drove over an hour to see her with my first and will be back to her with any more.

Midwives are great, OBs too conservative

I was with the midwives for two pregnancies. They are great, but the OBs in the practice are slightly hostile to the midwifery patients, and are very conservative in their care. It is hard to get questions answered over the phone- you will have to wait for hours for a callback, and even then it will just be a nurse, and you will have to wait a long time in the waiting room for your appointment.

Wonderful practice

I have been going to this facility for 4 years and I love it. It is a busy facility, and you might have to wait for a first appt, but it is worth it once you get in. Dr. Lambert delivered my son, but I usually see the midwives. I highly recommend them.

The MOST caring doctor

I have been going to Dr. Garry Siegel for over 10 years and he is, without a doubt, the most caring and compassionate doctor in town. Dr. Siegel truly listens to you and cares about you as a person as well as a patient. He gives you all the time you need to ask any questions and his answers are thoughtful and thorough. He is NEVER too busy for you. He will return phone calls and e-mails quickly. How many doctors are that available to their patients? He is always on top of the most recent medical advances and studies. His skill as a surgeon is outstanding. I think so much of him as a doctor and as a person, that after telling everyone about Dr. Siegel, my daughter and 10 of my friends are now patients! His staff is just as friendly and caring as he is.

The Best Experience Ever!

I could not have chosen a better OBGYN! I live in Conyers, quite a way from NP OB/GYN, but it was so worth the drive. I felt like family to the staff, and Margaret (my mid-wife) has to be one of the most amazing women ever. She delivered my baby (totally natural childbirth) with calm expertise. This is also the only location around Atlanta where you can have a waterbirth. For my next baby, I am definately coming here. Thanks a million!

A Doctor who listens

I've been going to Dr. Garry Siegel with NP Ob/Gyn for over 10 years. He delivered my first child and I would trust him with my life. He takes the time to listen to any questions, fears, and comments, and is always willing to go the extra mile. The other doctors and midwives in this practice are pleasant to visit and I recommend them highly.
