Prefer having lunch here, 4/21/2012

We used to frequent this place back in the mid-90's when it was slightly less popular (And less expensive). Way too crowded now for dinner at peak time. Best time for us is an early lunch (11:45... ish) during the work week. The food is and always has been top notch. You have to try to not get offended with the service, as that's just how they roll, and you may catch a bad location to sit at. Just don't be afraid to speak up to get some attention. I would equate this to the old La Havana location on Buford Highway. Unbelievable food with a lot of "character" to the location.

Stunningly Bad Service, 12/06/2010

Went for dinner with a party of 4, after being denied a reservation because our group was 'too small'. Ended up in the basement where it was 20 degrees hotter with no ventilation. Saw our waitress... exactly twice, when she took the order, and when she brought the food. Our water was never refilled, we had to flag down another server when we wanted a second drink, and our dishes went uncleared until we were ready to leave. The food was average, the surroundings were hot, uncomfortable and tight, and the service was nonexistent. A fight broke out upstairs in the main dining room and we passed the police as we finally gave up having a normal dining experience and left. Don't waste your money or your time on this restaurant. It's a waste of both.

Great in moderation

The food is amazing, the service isn't bad, waitresses are hot, but the seating is tight, the parking is tighter, and a lot of the fellow patrons suck. The best time to go is during lunch when they have the combo specials they don't offer in the evening but the food is always delicious. Best enjoyed in moderation.

Awesome Food & Margaritas... long wait

I LOVE this place! I've been here for my birthday for the past few years and it's always delicious. If you go here you have to try one of their margaritas - my favorite. The only downside is there can be VERY long waits and the hostesses can be snotty. Overall, the food and atmostphere WAY outweighs the bad things.

Delicious!

I have been going to this restaurant almost every week for 5 years now and I love it! They have the best Mole sauce I have ever tasted. Now that fall is here, be sure to try the "Caldo de Pollo" Chicken soup...it is amazing! As always, the beef brisket is not to be missed. Best times to go to avoid the wait: Lunch M-Sa between 11a-11:30a or 2:30p-4p; Dinner arrive before 6:45p. If you arrive after 7p for dinner on a Friday or Saturday night plan to hang out and drink mararitas for about 45 min to an hour

watch out for the manager

The food and service was out of this world. Excellent....our experience was great until we encountered the manager who was not friendly and seemed to be bothered by the customer. Service Staff out of this world. Just beware of the manager.

Yummi

It's tex mex, but it's good. Definitely try the tamales and the shrimp tacos with green sauce! Spicy and good.

I don't get the hype

The food's pretty good, but the place is small and overcrowded. It's not my favorite, but you should go at least once to check it out. Best in Atlanta? I don't see it.

Can't Stop Going There!

This is the best mexican restaurant in Atlanta. Plan on a wait because it is always crowded but it is worth the wait. If parking is full, park across the street at Pepsi plant.

Great Mexican Food

This is one of the few Mexican restaurants that I've ever eaten at that really stands out to me. Most of the others seem to taste the same, but here the food is absolutely amazing. It is a little bit more expensive than most Mexican places, but it's totally worth it. Just be prepared to deal with a crowd. I don't think I've ever been here when it wasn't crowded.

The Best Mexican in Atlanta!

You can't ask for better food. My husband and I try something different every time we go and haven't been disappointed yet. The salsa is the best--full of cilantro!

There's a Reason

That this place is always busy. The tables are cramped and you'll have to wait an hour, but the food is so excellent that you'll be back time and time again.

Best Mexican, but Long Wait

Be prepared to wait for a table. People camp out with coolers to get into this authentic, inexpensive and delicious Mexican restaurant. I saw Usher eating there.

Tamales

Nuevo Laredo Cantina has the best tamales in the ATL. Margaritas are good and large, also the shrimp enchiladas.
