Great teachers! Non-competitive atmosphere. Very good summer camps. Small class sizes. Their Children's Theatre is EXCELLENT!! Wonderful productions. Great opportunities for all kids. OBD will grow... on you! We left another Alpharetta studio a year ago because of poor management, been very happy at Off BRoadway.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
I'm writing this after seeing yet another fantastic show put on by the children's theater at Off Broadway (Cinderella). WOW!!!! Expectations exceeded once again. They may not have the "big" stage or... microphones, but what they do have is talent and great directors. What they churn out is amazing. I support the arts and see shows from all area theatres and schools if possible. Off Broadway is equal if not better. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly; no divas or stage moms. Just a fun time for everyone.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

Off Broadway has been able to support all aspects of our children's interests in Performing Arts. From acting and singing to dance, we have been extremely happy with our experiences at Off Broadway Dance Theater.
My daughter recently took a summer camp with Off Broadway and couldn't wait to sign up for Fall classes. I was blown away by the high quality performance by the kids after just one week of summer camp. She now takes a Broadway Jazz dance class and is a member of the OBD musical theatre troupe. I was amazed at how my daughter had grown as a dancer after seeing her performance at the holiday recital. Ms. Leah Porter is a loving and supportive dance instructor who makes dancing fun, which is why my daughter looks forward to her class each week. The musical theatre director, assist. director and choreographer have high expectations of the kids and encourage them to be their best. My daughter has bonded with her cast members who have become a theatre family. She looks forward to rehearsals at OBD and isn't ready to leave when it's time to go home! Questions or concerns are indeed promptly addressed by the studio owners. Chris and Shannon Mayer handle their business in a professional manner and have always had an open door policy to express any concerns parents may have. I would highly recommend Off Broadway to anyone looking for a family friendly place to receive high quality musical theatre, dance, and music instruction at an affordable price. I can personally attest that the instruction offered at OBD is a great value.
My daughter has taken various classes at Off Broadway and she enjoyed every experience. We have personally found strength in the musical theatre program. The focus for the studio is to be sure the kids are enjoying their experience while being introduced to new and advanced training in dance and theatre. Not every aspect of the studio is run strictly or tightly but that adds to the family, relaxed feel of the environment. Any questions we have had regarding administrative issues have been dealt with quickly and courteously. We will continue to be happily involved with Off Broadway.
My husband and I took our daughter to Off Broadway where she was placed in a class with children almost twice her age. I was concerned, but when I went to speak with management about this she said: "We'll just see if she catches on." I tried to follow up with the management several times, but never received a call back. Management was also never around to accept payments for class. I have transferred my daughter to another dance school.
I will NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM again! In my opinion, this company is run very unprofessionally. There have been a few times where we went to the class and the teacher was running late and we were never notified. Another time, the owner was sick and did not open for the day and we were notified after the fact. We have had issues with them administratively as well. Automatic payments have been sparatic and not consistent at the beginning of each month. The class did not have a curriculum to go off of (I think they made that adjustment this semester though). We had repeatedly left voicemails that were not returned. Overall our experience has been good with the teachers, but terrible with the administrative and how it is run and we are glad to drive an additional 10 miles where we feel the place is more professionally run and our kids will learn more about theater.
My daughter has taken there for the last few years, and we have been nothing but thrilled with it. The teachers are always so helpful, and the owner goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcomed. It is truly a family friendly business where making the child feel comfortable and loved is key. We wouldn't go anywhere else
While my child's instructors at Off Broadway were talented, I found the administration difficult. They were never present to address questions or accept payments. Class sizes, age ranges and availability always seemed to fluctuate. Recitals were extremely disorganized. In sum I'd say certain classes at Off Broadway shine because of the teachers, but the lack of organized administration ruined my family's experience.
At Off Broadway Dance the focus is completely on the children. They are not a super-strict studio requiring uniforms and tight buns, but rather a place where kids can learn to dance and gain many friends along the way. AND their Childrens Theatre program is fabulous!! The productions are amazing and the kids seem to be having so much fun. Dont go there expecting a glamorous place - just expect a friendly place where your kids will really matter to the staff.
At first I liked this place, but after more time at this studio Iíve seen a lot of disorganization. The teachers at OBD really care about their dance students and try to make every class fun. However the owners are not present or easy to talk to. The dress rehearsal and performance was chaotic and badly executed. Half of the parents picked up their child backstage after they performed and left so the audience kept shirking! There were other things that just didn't sit well with me. It was odd. We are changing dance studios to another in the area that is both professional and fun. (edited May 2011)
