Please beware of Dr. Orangio for your own sake. He didn't listen to my discomfort and pain after he performed colorectal surgery on me and I wound up in ICU for weeks with a ruptured colon. I didn't sue him, but someone did and won. (Wish I had felt like suing him!) You can view his malpractice settlement online at the agency that regulates doctors. Go to the Georgia Composite Board of Medical Examiners, click on "look up a license," type in his name and when his name comes up click on view and you will see a medical malpractice settlement listed against him. Believe me, if it gets so far as the medical board posting it, the doctor is bad. The medical board is policing their own so the only way you can get anything out about a doctor is to sue and win. Thank goodness for a website like this one so patients can warn each other.

Dr. Orangio has performed several surgeries on me for colorectal cancer, and I believe he has saved my life. I trust him, and many other nurses and doctors have spoken to me about Dr. Orangio's technical expertise and the overall quality of his work.

I'm shocked anyone has something bad to say about Dr. Orangio. Ater seeing 8 doctors over a 3 year period, he is the only one that knew what was wrong with my body. My colon was turned inside out, it was so damaged by the time I got to him, he had to remove most of it. He listened to me, and knew what was wrong in the first visit. He really cares about his patients, and even gets protective over them. I had a gynelogical procedure done at the same time by a different surgeon, who screwed up my body, but wanted to go back in and operate soon after. After informing Dr. Organgio, he went to his office, called this doctor, and I heard Orangio fussing him out. He then made phone calls to my HMO to stop the doctor from operating on me, and I was sent to a fellow surgeon of his. Finally, this other doctor fixed my botched up body. I would trust Dr.Orangio to operate on me anyday, over another surgeon!!! He may be a little cocky, but he has a reason, he is the best in his field in my opinion. I am very greatful to Dr. Orangio! Dr. O came very well-referred from a leading gastroentrologist. I interviewed him as a possible surgeon to do a colon resection for diverticulitis. While I can't comment on his surgical aptitude, his demeanor was that of cocky frat boy who wants to make some $$. I didn't feel he really listened to me and dismissed my inquiries. When I asked about other surgeon's and leading techniques/hospitals for this procedure, he proclaimed there was no one better than himself in the entire field of colo-recal surgery. To be fair, I have heard he is a very good surgeon, especially for complicated procedures. However, I'm very glad I went elsewhere.

I was told by the office staff of this so-called doctor that there is no way to tell which film was mine since the doctor doesn't put names on them and there are more than one surgery on each film...Do they really think I'm stupid? Well, I am not. I had to sign a form to let the procedure be filmed and was told by the almighty doctor that the film was my property, well, I haven't seen it yet, it was either at his home ( being edited ) or just misplaced. Sounds like this doctor doesn't know how to keep up with important records, especially since my video was to be used for training purposes. How can you train someone when no one knows who ar what the person is that is being operated on, and what their medical history is? Sounds strange to me!! I would never refer anyone I cared about to this unreliable, unsufficient surgeon. Always seek a third opinion, Orangio was my second. I do thank Dr.s Simon and Mcdowell, they indeed cared, and saved my life.

Dr Guy Orangio is the most caring physician that our family hase ever worked with. He is most caring, most responsive, listens and responds accordingly. Having had a parent with colon cancer I have had numerous appointments as well as my husband and we have refered a number of friends who have also been well pleased!

This dr. does not listen to his patients, nor does he remember their history. He told me one thing on 1 visit & the next time would contradict that he hadn't said that. He got the information in my discharge summary incorrect including meds. I was discharged on, the amount of time I was in the hospital was wrong. When I told him symptoms I was having, he would argue that I didn't have pain there, or due to that reason & the next time say he never said that. He contradicted literature posted in his own office on diverticulosis. The biggest thing was I told him suggestions of 3 of my other physicians to look for source of abdominal pain that had lasted over a yr. That my other dr.'s said I didn't need to have to be cut open again at a later date to discover what this problem was & to correct whatever it was while he was in there fixing his specialty & to have a GYN on hand to handle if there was another issue, we suspected. He totally ignored me & went in & repaired what his job was & got out. I have cont. to have increasing pain ever since & have been to approx. 6 specialists & am going to yet another one next wk. to try & determine cause of pain w/o another surgery. No one wants to open me back up, due to so many past surgeries & high risk now. I have suffered long & hard due to his indifference & cont. to do so & have spent thousands of $ trying to find source of pain w/o surgery, due to his pigheadedness. I highly DON't recommend this dr.
