Be sure to get the pricing for services ahead of time. I had taken the same three cats to PV Animal Hospital three years in a row for their annual vaccinations. The first time in 2010 I was charged $193.00 for all three cats. A fair price. Then in 2011 and 2012 I was charged $173.00 for the three cats. Once again, a fair price. I set up an appointment and took them in last week. When I went to pay the bill, I was told it was $353.00. That's an increase of $180.00. I can understand a small increase but this is unreasonable. I was not advised at any time beforehand that the services would be so much more. Maybe I should have asked, but after three years of being charged about the same, I didn't expect such a larger bill. I feel the right thing for them to have done would have been to advise me of the new price when I made the appointment or when I showed up for the appointment. I can't be sure but I suspect I was charged so much more because on this last trip I declined extra services and test suggested by Dr. Babcock. They wanted to clean one cats teeth for a minimum of $512.00 and do a kidney test on another for $253.00 although the cat showed no signs of kidney problems. I will look elsewhere for my veterinary needs.

I had a parrot that was egg bound. While she should have bounced back immediately after removing the egg, it took over a week. She stopped eating and had to be tube fed. Dr. Babcock is very informed and passed on his knowledge to me. A lot of you complain about the prices, yes it is expensive but when you have exotics they are going to run you more than cats or dogs. My parrot was saved and I cannot put a price on that.

This is the worst service ever. I went in with a complaint of animal that couldnt walk and was in pain. Ross Babcock is old and should retire. Just like the previous person he proceeded to do a physical exam to see if anything was broken, good thing nothing was broken. During his doing the exam the animal whimpered but Babcock was to deaf to hear it. He proceeded to talk down to me and tell me nothing was wrong with his he wasnt in pain and there is no pain medications to give this animal and did more tests. Come to find out this is what happens in the end stages of animals life.. I am sad my animal died the next day so if you worried about your animal RUN FAR AWAY FROM HERE!!!!!

They seem to have a pretty steady stream of clientele so am disappointed that I didn't come out with such a great experience. Dr. Babcock needs to give up his throne and move on. He got cranky/arrogant when I wanted an estimate for all the services he wanted to do for my pet bird. And while I fully respect people with disabilities, his inability to hear makes for a very difficult exchange when discussing matters related to the pet. I felt like I was being subject to paying for unnecessary tests and made to feel guilty for inquiring on what the tests would help with. More than once I was reminded by the doctor of his years of experience when simply wanting to know more about why he was recommending something. Just didn't feel very good about this particular doctor and in general feel the hospital overcharges. Hope others have a better experience, but I will not return.

I have taken my chihuahua to see Dr. Babcock a few times now and will continue to do so. I feel very comfortable knowing that my baby(dog) is getting the best care with such an experienced veterinarian. I was very impressed with the one on one time the doctor spent with my pet. The staff was very friendly. It was very obvious to me everyone there loves animals and working with them.Over all I really believe Palo Verde to be a great place and provides more than fair prices :)

Gave me a quote for service of $87.00. The price turned out to be over $170.00 and when I complained (nicely) they told me I could no longer bring my pets there.... which had been 2 dogs, three cats with over $1500.00 in service in less than one year...overpriced and Dr. Babbcock is too old, unprofessional and imature..the other doctors there are good, but the place charges way too much...go elsewhere

I had to have my 10 year old Dalmatian put to sleep due to advance cancer. We had been using Banfield but they just didn't seem to care so we called Palo Verde upon recommendation. They didn't make us wait, took us into a room for privacy and the Doctor and staff were so compassionate. Banfield wanted to charge me almost $300 to have her euthanized and Palo Verde charged us $73. When and if I get another furry family member, I will only take them to Palo Verde.

I saw the reviews, need to take my sick turtle in for examination and they agreed to get me in right away. The quoted me $69.50 over the phone for the visit but once I got there, they said they misquoted me and it would be a $100. I keep the visit, saw the doctor and he recommended a $100 lab test + possibly tube feeding at a costs into the thousands. The total visit was $220. I later found out that the procedures where unnecessary and the charges where way over inflated. These guys are out just to make a buck off of you. Do yourself a favor and find another vet that cares more about pets then just your money.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting the Dr's. and staff and felt a true caring for the animals. I recently rescued a cat who apparently was abandoned and walking the streets for who knows how long and after a couple of days realized she was pregnant. I helped her with her birth and have since adopted out her 3 kittens. She loved the Doctor who cared for her when I found out she had worms and now treatment is over. The doctors have all been gracious in answering my questions when I call and I would recomment this clinic to anyone who is looking for a quality vet and attentive staff. Debra

We were extremely pleased with every aspect of Palo Verde Animal Hospital! The doctors and office staff were very professional and underdstanding. Our dog had a recurring tumor on his leg that had been removed twice before at another hospital. Our options were explained and amputation was the best decision. "Shelby" had his leg amputated and is now doing great. We highly recommend Palo Verde to anyone needing care for their pets!

Live to far away to use their sevices. I can say over 30 yrs ago I took my dog to Bab because a neighbor shot my dog in my yard. Took almost a yrs to pay bill I was poor. No problem. Dog would jump up on wall and tear off pad because of loss of perciption. 2 sat late calls that he came down and fixed pad while his wife drug in a kitten from outside saying it needed a home. lol Doc cares more about your pet than you and always wanted a doc to care about me like that. He is a fine doc and man

I've been taking our various dogs to Palo Verde for years. The staff have always been very nice, and even though Dr. Babcock is hard of hearing (and sometimes hard headed) he cares about animals and seems to know what he's doing, but the other vets there are just as competent. Love Dr Samuelson btw!! The office has convenient hours and location, the only downside is they are expensive and always recommending pricey tests / procedures. I just can't afford them anymore so I'm looking for someplace more reasonably priced. EDIT May2009: Their prices are competitive based on recent research & experience with other vets.

The receptionist is very rude and nasty. The vet (Dr. Babcock) is way past his retirement age and can not hear a word you are saying because his hearing aid is never on. On the up side, Dr. Samuelson is very knowledgable and does great work. Request him or you will be sorry. They are very pricey, so you better be rich.
