Pappi Tates Auto Service

I was recommended years ago and used this station in the past. I went again because I thought I could trust. I brought it in for a vibration. $800 later some mounts were repaired along with a leaky rack and pinion. After I drove the car it still vibrated and leaked. Brought it back for another $660. This time they actually fixed what was wrong. When I asked what did I pay for the first time, I was told sometimes it's a hit and miss with fixing cars. Ron is the nicest guy on earth. Be really careful dealing with this shop as sometimes it's the nice guys that get you the worst. I'm also a single woman who was clearly taken advantage of by them.

I have been taking my cars to pappi tates for over 16 years. They have always given me excellent service at a great price. Ernie and Ron always tell me what I need and what I can wait on. They always explain in detail what is wrong and what it takes to fix it. I always find they are cheaper whenever I shop around. I highly recommend calling pappi tates next time you need a repair or just maint.

Took my 03 Avalanche for service by friend's referal. First, it was module for ABS. I specifically asked them if it will fix the problem. "Yes", Ron said, the Office Manager. Got a call two days later from the owner, Earnie. He said there was additional codes besides the ABS module failure. So, why didn't Ron tell me that before when I asked him if ABS module will fix the problem. Ron said, "I apologize, he is just a manager and I am the owner" What kind of answer is that?

Then, he said since my truck had after-market 20" on it, it had to be recalibrated since the OEM comes with 17" wheels. I tried to explain it to him that but the overall radius/diameter of tire/wheel combo is almost the same: the speedo difference is less than 2%. He kept saying that he is a GM Master Tech and went to GM classes. But he could not explain why less than 2% overall difference in the speedo causing 18-20% in the machine reading. Then, he said that the feed from the sensor is sent as an AC current and then .. Of course, it has to be convereted to electric signal so it can be transmitted. I told him I am a mechanical engineer myself and I have worked at Toyota Research Center in Michigan for a while so I know cars. He still could not explain, then he said, '..well, that is what they told me at the dealer, I don't know how.' So, don't tell me you are a Master this and that if you can not back it up.

This is the same ole auto-shop trick. It is my first and last time there....

We have brought our cars here for about 8 years now. They are excellent, well-priced mechanics. I have never felt like they were trying to take advantage of us. They'll even tell us when a repair can wait to be done. I highly recommend using Pappi Tates.

When you're a single woman it's hard to find trustworthy, competent mechanics. You couldn't be in better hands than with Ernie & Ron at Pappi Tate's. I've been using them since 1994 and couldn't imagine going anywhere else.
