Complete scam. Wanted to rent the car
Complete scam. Wanted to rent the car for 5 days and the agent quoted me at $405. I said that was way to much, so he came back with it under but still charged me $405. He did all this while smiling and saying ""Welcome to Denver""

I rented a car from 1/27 to 1/30/12. I brought i back a day early which wasn't adjusted until I called orbitz. My card was billed for $219.59 and my quote was $70.11. They charged me for prepay gas after I returned it full and insurance i had thru orbitz. Orbitz settled most of it but they wanted a gas receipt> don't their records show how much gas was in it ? What a hassle will not use them again. Should have known when the woman tried to upsell me to a 4*4 or least 6 cylinder.

Excellent Value & Service
I'm not sure what happened with the previous reviewers, but my experience was excellent. \r\rI declined all additional insurance and was not charged. The vehicle was upgraded from what I'd ordered (at no extra charge). The car was immaculately clean & fresh. \r\rThe person at the service counter was friendly, efficient, & professional.\r\rSince gas prices have been rising almost daily, I signed up for the 'buy the gas up front' option, so I wouldn't have to fill the tank on my return. Since I only used about a quarter tank of the gas, when I returned the car, they deducted the FULL $59 I'd paid up front for the gas. I did not even request it, they just told me they were taking if off the bill.\r\rOn top of all these good experiences, Payless was also the LEAST expensive of all the car rentals at the Denver airport by a wide margin.\r\r\r

Total Scam, Don't Rent Here
DO NOT RENT HERE, it's a total scam. We rented an SUV a few years back, and when they gave us the car, it was all muddy. Apparently their carwash was broken that day. The security guard, at check out, laughed and said to ""Bring it back as dirty as I want"". Which is fine, but here is the problem. The car had a pen head chip under the inspection sticker (far left bottom). Upon return, payless said I did it. I explain the car was muddy when we got it, and we didn't see it. They took my name, and sent me on my way. After researching, they were trying to charge me $580 for a new windshield. I explained to the employee investigator, that the car was muddy and we don't accept blame. She told me that she heard the car wash was broken, but their was nothing she could do. Month later, she gets more aggressive with me. Now she claims the carwash was never broken, and the chip is in the middle of the windshield. We took photos, and knew she was lying. I even asked her to prove, the windshield was replaced. She couldn't provide me with anything. She said the company they use, replaced several windshields, and it would be impossible to match up the documents, to the car I rented. I refused to pay them, including my insurance, and they put the $580.00 collection on my credit. report. Even though they didn't even have my SS number. For the sake of principle, they can just leave that $580 on my credit for 7 years. I refuse to pay them a cent. As others have posted about a similar scam, I was compelled to write my experience. I have rented from Budget and Hertz (at DEN) and have never had a problem. I have never even seen them searching for chips. They are only looking for obvious damage.

It may have been a mistake, but...
on a recent trip to Denver when I indicated I did NOT want the supplemental liability insurance, the agent indicated I should initial the line that documented I accepted the service. Because I trusted that the agent was acting on what I had said I wanted, I did not scrutinize what I was initialing and learned of my unwanted purchase of the insurance after it was too late.It was mistake on my part to trust the agent and not look closely at the contract. But I have learned a worthy lesson about paying attention to what I initial as well as what rental car companies to stay away from.
