After a few weeks training at this dojo, I was impressed by the quality of the curriculum, the talent of the instructors and the bonds of the community. Peachtree Aikikai reaches out to the community... and has an affiliate program at Georgia Tech to make Aikido accessible to all. I definitely recommend this dojo to people looking to take their training to the next level.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
I have trained and visited many dojos in the US and overseas, and I count Peachtree Aikikai as one of the very best. The dojo family is warm, inviting, solid and supportive. The technical expertise... and repetoir are outstanding. The instructors are excellent and the Budo Spirit is very strong. The class times are many, varied and flexible and the cost is very reasonable. Peachtree Aikikai is simply the premier aikido school in Atlanta and one of the finest in the Nation.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

I have tried many paths to health and peace of mind, but none match what I have gained at Peachtree Aikikai. The care and instruction I have received here has put me on a path that I will tread for the rest of my life. If you are looking for something that feeds the mind, body and spirit, look no further.

My Aikido hobby is not for mortal combat, it's about quality of life. While the hard practice and pain (both given and received) are fun, this dojo is special because of the strong friendships that exist among the many members.

We have 2 daughters who are now 15 and 9 years old; we have been attending for 9 years, since my oldest was 6. Most of the time we come to class twice a week. What has it done for the girls? - taught them a self defense that is NOT based on their size or their strength (They can both flip grown men by using the correct techniques.) - provided fitness without using kicking and punching - increased their self-confidence - improved their body awareness & coordination - provided a safe and fun social connection with other children and adults We have absolutely gotten more than our money's worth in this well-run program. If your family is considering a martial art for your children, come, visit, see the program in action, and meet the parents. It's the best!
Our son joined Peachtree Aikikai Akido school about a year and half ago, we can say now that it was a great decision we made. The instructors at school are excellent with kids. Everybody is very friendly and helpful. Children love it. We highly recommend Peachtree Aikikai Akido school to everybody.
My 15 yr old daugther has been a student at Peachtree Aikikai for the past two years. We investigated many other self defense styles and dojos prior to selecting Aikido and Peachtree Aikikai, and we remain very happy with our choice. I knew early on that we had made the right choice when my daughter showed up for the childrens class on Halloween and she was the only student (a very unusual event). Rather than cancelling or cutting the class short, the chief instructor and his assistant spent the entire hour working with my daughter (and yes, we did get some trick or treating in afterwards). We have found that Peachtree Aikikai supports a great community atmosphere, maintains a genuine concern for the individual, and provides excellent instruction. My daughter's improved self-confidence, physical self-awareness, and ability to work with multiple age groups and skill levels has exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Aikido and Peachtree Aikikai.
For me, the best martial arts training comes from a school with extremely knowledgable instructors that are clearly motivated by a love of their art, and a love of sharing with their students. Peachtree Aikikai is that kind of a school.

Iíve been training in this dojo for 6 month coming pretty much every day. Every day Iím waiting for the class, for 1.5 hour of hard work, frustration, inspiration, happiness, harmony. Every day I learn something new, every day Iím getting little bit closer to the person I want to become, and it just would not happen without help of everyone in the dojo, especially our great instructors and fabulous chief instructor Blue Spruell. Having several top-notch instructors is the big advantage of this dojo Ėthey help to look at the problem from different angles, which in its turn lead to deeper understanding of the aikido.

My two sons and I have been members of this dojo for about 5 years now. I think it is a wonderful place to take kids for exercise, martial arts training, and building self-control. The routine creates a way to focus them on something OTHER than video games. I got tired of just watching every week so I joined in too. A nice feature of Peachtree is parents can join the childrens' classes together with their children, creating a family experience. We have many families in our community.

This dojo is recognized throughout the southeast and nationally as being of top quality. It's instructors all are very attentive to beginners but set a high standard of training which is reflected in the obvious quality of the students. If you have trained here and travel to either seminars or other dojos to visit (eg. while on business) you will see the obvious difference between the Peachtree students and the those at many other schools. There is not a lot of emphasis on philosophy but on physical daily practice, from which may arise an eventual understanding of some of the more philosophical writings of aikido.
This traditional Japanese dojo trains a style of Aikido that is not only robust but includes an added curriculum of adapted Judo. You will learn core strength, balance, and self awareness. I recommend the Saturday morning class if you'd like to get a serious sweat on.......... for the simply the finest Aikido in the Southeast, Peachtree Aikikai is the choice.
