As one who tries to do a bit of research when looking for a new provider, I must admit I was a bit hesitant to visit this provider based on some of the not so great reviews. Considering that many of them were over a year old, I took my chances and took my two school-aged children for their annual exam. From my initial phone call to set up the appointment, Dr. Shuster's team was very efficient, professional, and was able to set up an appointment within the next two weeks. When we arrived, we were greeted cheerfully, completed the necessary paperwork, and my girls were seen right away without a wait. Dr. Shuster and team performed thorough eye exams, we picked out eyeglasses (reasonably priced, good selection, and within my insurance plan limits), and were on our way within an hour. I would recommend this eye doctor, and am planning on returning soon for my own eye exam.

New to the area, scheduled appointment with Dr Schuster they were able to see me same day, emailed me my paper work, had my insurance ready when I got there. was took back right away. During my exam Dr Schuster explained my condition and suggested glasses. The staff helped me with glasses and to understand my insurance, (insurance can be very confusing). I got my glasses next day and they were progressives. from me price shopping I dont think thats even heard of! All in all very pleased with my first Georgia eye doctor. I will be back!

At arrival, I was greeted by a middle-aged lady at the front desk. I had several questions being that this was my 1st visit at this office. She was very short with me almost condescending...as if she figured that I should already know the answers to the questions I had. I sat down to fill out paperwork and almost left because of how I was treated but figured at the very least I would give the Optometrist a chance. I was brought back and waited in one of the rooms for what seemed like quite awhile considering the office did not appear to be busy at all. This lengthy wait did allow me, however, to examine the room (which was very unorganized) with what seemed like very outdated instruments. Finally, Dr. Shuster saw me. I noticed a disconnect in the conversation, almost as if the doctor wasn't focusing on what I was saying or addressing the concerns that I had. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this office. From the very old/dingy look of the place to the un-inviting staff and outdated doctor. This place is a joke. Also, I wrote a review on another website which was deleted by this office. Just shows how FRAUD these people really are.

I wish this person would have brought her concerns to me personally to address. This review violates Kudzus and most websites guidelines as it is a personal attack on both me and my employee as well not a factual experience. First our only female employee is in her mid 20's, second her review was tossed off another site TWICE and a few others too because of its abusive nature as it violates numerous guidelines(in her first review she characterized my patients as being local natives). We have no idea who this person may be as Kudzus reviews are not certified as being from an active patient or customer, but I wish she would call me. We pride ourselves on our cutting edge equipment, contacts, frames, and lens designs and we have redecorated every 5 years. Most patients on demandforce.com love our young energetic emloyeee in fact she gets rave reviews which are certified reviews not anonymous reviews. I don't know if this is a real patient but I do question if she may have not had a typcial encounter in our practice we invite her back for an examination and see if she will think differently. I like to read reviews but always look at how many reviews, and for how long that individual has proffered said reviews to validate them. Check us out on demandforce.com. I was going to ignore this but I feel I owe people who may read this review an opportuity and a reply. signed, Dr. Richard Shuster
This office is just great. I live in Norcross and needed a exam right away. This office accepted me same day I called, Dr. Shuster was so caring and REALLY knowledgeable. I did need new glasses, But his staff went over all of my options, They have a wide selection, and the prices are little high, BUT not that much of a difference than a chain store. And when I got my glasses, I was VERY IMPRESSED!!!! the vision in new new glasses were worth evry penny!! I wouls suggest this place to anyone loking for a eye doctor aroung norcross. I was very happy with this office

I just needed an update on my glasses as they were getting old and went in for exam as my neighbors speak highly of Dr. Shuster, and I was very pleased prompt quic service and I still can't believe how great these progresssives work, its like they are single vison but I see computer distance and near wonderfully.

I could never wear contacts ever without swelling of my eyes. He approached it with thorough exam and treatments. I am now able to wear a contact lens all day. I checked out his prices and they were better than lens crafters. He will see the rest of my family.

This doctor is nothing short of a crook. Not only are his prices ridiculously high but he'll flat out lie that your insurance carrier will not cover some services when actually they do and bill you out of pocket for them. If you have a secondary and primary insurance carrier he'll bill both carriers in addition he'll charge you a patient evaluation fee which should be picked up by the insurance but will bill you for it. This doctor and his practice needs to be audited. What ever happened to the hippocratic oath? This doctor certainly has no ethics ....I found out a little too late after i reviewed all my paperwork and explanation of benefits from my insurance....

I failed 3 times with other doctors and he found a combination of solutions and contacts and drops that are awesome...prices were fair and when I tore my trial they were there with new one same day. None better in my book. He saw my neighbor's child on a weekend night for an eye infection. He obviously loves to take care of people.

There is a high turnover rate because the doctor treats the staff poorly. I have seen and heard how he treats his staff and patients. He will start to tell you something and then leave, come back and on to something else. I do feel for the people who work for him. He doesn't give a very good eye exam or stay in touch with what he is doing. He needs to retired. I also know his prices are why to high and when I reserched it, he charges the highest prices and doesn't even use the best products out there.

I think Dr. Shuster provides really good eye care. His staff is completely inept; and his prices are ridiculously high. His staff billed my insurance $150 for glasses I never purchased from him. I have been trying to get that money back since August 2009.

I noticed there's two entries for this office. Please check out the reviews under "Shuster Richard" as well. I've been going to another doctor since my last review, but I must say whenever I think about finding a new office I instantly think of my bad experiences at this office. Want to avoid that. Also, re: the general turnover of office staff - I'm not surprised. Given the treatment of staff I witnessed on my visit, I hope that staffers would leave. 2-3 years later? I STILL regret not saying something to those young staffers. :(

I switched to this place because it's close to work. The contact lenses and glasses were more than twice more expensive than the place I used to go to. So I decided not to buy anything from them and just wanted to get my prescription. They obviously were not happy about it. They gave me a prescription which was expired the day before I got my eye exam done and without doctor's signature. Also, they told me to wear Acuvue Oasys, but they wrote Advance on my prescription. They totally did it on purpose.

I must agree with the previous post regarding the prices here ... I have not been to any other eye doctors over the last few years but ... of late ... I find the prices here to be very ‘champagne' to my ‘beer' pocket book. And I don't feel the ‘champagne' in the service either ... I wonder how it is at other eye businesses? The rates at this office appear to have risen faster than the cost of inflation and I cannot make any sense of the invoice they provide. Besides this ... there appears to a high turnover in the general office staff, but they insist that they do not hire interns. hmmmm ...
