Worst service and little knowledge, 1/10/2008

My sister took her car to this Pep Boys for an oil change and to get the power steering belt put back on. When we called the next day, they asked again why we took the car in and said they would... have to call back to give more information. My sister spoke with different people who gave conflicting information regarding the car. They seemed clueless! They also complained about the car being on their lot - but they are the ones who took long to start working on it! The power steering belt was previously removed by a mechanic friend of mine so that he could look at the AC compressor. The belts for the power steering, compressor and alternator are all separate. The mechanics at Pep Boys tried to tell us that they were all connected and the power steering could not be repaired without getting a new AC compressor, which would run about $900 for all the work. The woman at the service desk then threw in that it was even connected to the alternator, which is not true at all. There are cars that have all of these connected, but this one did not. They either do not know what they are doing or try to take advantage of their customers. I will never go back here.
