Unhealthy Puppy
As animal lovers we feel compelled to share our story. The Petland in North Olmstead has a great staff and adorable puppies, but please do not let this cloud your judgment. In reality, Petland is under poor ownership and refuses to help our sick puppy.
We purchased a puppy we were told was inspected by a reputable vet from West Park clinic. We purchased the puppy trusting the documents that we given claiming that the puppy had no heart murmur, kennel cough, mites, among other things. We had a family member who happened to be a licensed veterinarian inspect the dog, where he detected a heart murmur. We were told that this sometimes is present in puppies but they may grow out of it - nothing to be alarmed about. We decided to give Petland and West Park the benefit of the doubt and not complain. However, the day after we brought the puppy home he began coughing every now and then. We took the puppy back to our trusted vet who said it was Kennel Cough (which Petland and West Park said our puppy did not have). We were able to give the puppy antibiotics, but after a few days the cough did not go away. We took the dog back to our vet for chest X-Rays where not only was an enlarged heart found, (explaining the murmur) but our puppy had pneumonia. He had to be hooked up to an IV and kept under 24-hour care for quite some time.
Petland would not help us out and refused to acknowledge that they sold us a puppy who was in poor health.
