I took my very mild mannered dog here for boarding. They called me in the middle of the week telling me that his mouth was bleeding and how he was aggressive. My breed of dog IS NOT AGGRESSIVE.... When I went to pick him up, he was covered in feces, and was shivering. He smelt horrible. He was so scared of everyone that came close to him. DON'T EVER GO TO THIS PLACE. Our dog possibly ate some cold medicine. They made her vomit, gave her charcoal, an i.v. and kept her overnight. The bill was $1,300. They are too expensive.

Boarding here = Never again! I picked my dog up at 11 a.m. after a two day stay and she crapped (bloody stool) in their lobby. She's never had an "accident" so in shock I ask the employee why this might be happening and what might be wrong. He tells me she hadn't been let outside yet! 11:00 a.m. and hadn't been let out of her kennel to go to the bathroom!!! She's a smart dog and thankfully that was the only way she could communicate to me how horrible they were to her. Then I get her bag back which had contained specific instructions for treats in the a.m. and different treats after her medication. None of the treats were given to her! I will never do business here again! Really, I couldn't believe the kennel employee told me they'd been too busy to walk my dog that morning - yeah, well next time don't take that many dogs. At least mine will be one less at your kennel. In addition, I know the price seems good at first, but in the long run you won't save because your dog will be sick and uncared for at that facility - and the price quote and price charge are two different things once they add in a bunch of hidden random fees anyway. Next time, I'll pay up for the peace of mind.

I've had several bad experiences here. They almost killed my cat by giving him the wrong meds. But, they did kill my friends cat. Please do not take your animals here, even if it is past normal vet hours. If you need an emergency vet, then please call Village Vets in Decatur or Georgia Veternarian Clinic. You and your animal will be glad that you did.

Do not trust this practice with your animals. This is a corporate practice whose main interest "money" will always come before your animal's welfare. If you do some research you will find other "local" clinics that charge far less and require less manditory testing. You will not find fees like biohazard, disposable needles etc, at most clinics. They also have a rule about splitting up flea and heartworm preventative into single doses..they claim this is a law..if so, most local clinics are pretty loose about this "law". Also, the quality of the staff has gone down hill. The people they employ are not professional and seem miserable in their jobs. What is really sad is that The Humane Society has made a deal with this company to send them new clients in exchange for a free exam for adopters. This is really sad!! The Humane Society wants to be supported locally but they send adopters to the most expensive "corporate" hospital in town..instead of some of the other"local" hospitals which support the rescue efforts of this city and work to make animal healthcare affordable in the city of Atlanta. I paid over $2000.00 for a mis-diagnosis at this hospital. The correct services that got my pet well cost $60.00 at another "local" clinic. This practice does not care and they will turn you away with a dying pet, in the middle of the night if you can't produce a large sum of money before services. All I can say is, For shame VCA/ Pets Are People Too!!!!

I have two dogs that were patients at PETS ARE PEOPLE TOO. Today july 13th, i went in to get a single dose of heart worm medicine for one of them. Because of the recession i can not afford six month doses at this time, and haven't been able to for a couple months now. PETS ARE PEOPLE TOO, refused to sell me a one month dose this time. Their reason was that they no longer feel that the single doses are being administered properly???? So apparently I am capable of administering a six month dose but not a single dose!!!!! I am very angry. I also tried purchasing from PET MEDS., but when they called PETS ARE PEOPLE TOO, to get them to sign off on the meds., PETS ARE PEOPLE TOO, refused, even though my dogs were current with their shots and heart worm test. Their reason was because the generic meds. i wanted wasn't a med. they(PETS ARE PEOPLE TOO) CARRIED!!! I was trying too take care of my dogs, PETS ARE PEOPLE TOO'S patients. They are more concerned with their bottom line than the health of my dogs. I found a feed store in the next county that sells yearly vaccinations and heart worm meds. for a fraction of the cost, and i dont have too spend a hundred fifty dollars for an exam and office visit to get my supplies. This feed store is a saving grace, worth checking out.

After going to Pets Are People too for over 15 years, I was recently enlightened to find out that the top priority at this vet clinic is to get as much money out of you before walking out the door. Almost everytime I leave this clinic, my bill is rarely less than $200. This vet prescribes unnecessary procedures and tests simply to make more money. The last straw was when my elderly pet needed a small tumor removed; They quoted a price of almost $700!. I ended up getting this same procedure done at another local clinic for less than $200. After 15 years, I will not be going back to this vet again.

We took our dog here trying to figure out why the poor fellow was itching so badly. We NEVER saw the same Dr twice in a row. Tried every flea, tick, etc they offered. Tried the special diet trying to determine if it was food allergies. No success. Saw another vet in ATL and was given a treatment that fixed it on the first visit. Its like fast food here never know what kind of service you are going to get!

Dr McFarland at Pets Are People Too (Midtown/Ansley location) is a wonderful soul. She is so thorough and caring and makes you feel like you are her favorite and only customer. The care she took with me and my beagle was TOP shelf. I highly recommend this Pet Vet..... in fact all of their vets are wonderful at this location! SO KUDOS!!! -- Jenn Britton, Midtown Atlanta

We took our cat there on Sunday, he was checked for infection in his bladder and was given antibiotics, this visit cost us $185, medication lasted lasted only 5 days instead of 10 as doctor said, when we called them next Saturday (cat wasn't doing very well) and told to check if they gave us correct dose of medication and if they can give us more medication, they want us to bring cat again and do more tests. We took later in the week our cat to our vet just to find out that he was short on medication, that he needs 5 more days of antibiotic exactly as we thought happened. Tech from "Pets are people too" did mistake when gave us medication, calling them did not help to recognize mistake, they made us worry for few days, cat and us had a very stressful weekend due to tech's mistake.

I have taken my dogs to them for the past 2 years. I really tried to like this place, but have finally given up. A simple task of ordering special kidney food has turned into a nightmare. It's been 23 days & still no food! During this time I never received a call from them. And when finally going in person to get it straightened out I was treated horribly. The staff is unprofessional & rude. With all the choices of vets in Atlanta look elsewhere for a great vet.

Several months ago I witnesses a stray dog get hit by a car. I immediaty rushed the dog to the only open vet that I knew of which was "Pets Are People Too". I was being what I thought was a concerned citizen and hope and pray that if my dog was injured without me around someone would do the same for her. The vet and staff would not touch the dog (even though it was in extreme pain) without a check for $2000!!! I offered to pay for initial treatment to help make the dog comfortable while I searched for his owner, but this was not acceptable. They would not do anything to help the dog unless I paid IN ADVANCE for all surgeries nesessary or not and they knew that I was simply a bystander trying to do the right thing! Please do not use them even in an emergency! I have never seen a veternary so incompassionate as "Pets are People too"!!!!

I have used Pets are People Too for 19 years, ever since I moved to Atlanta. They have always taken great care of me and my dogs. First it was Dr. Simmons with my late dog and now Dr. Mathis takes care of my two Bostons. I have read some of the reviews and they are right on some things. Some of the staff does not have compassion down, but most of them seem to have left. Dr. Mathis has always returned my phone calls and been very good in not suggesting outrageous test. However when I have had to go when she was not there, I have been told I needed a lot of things I thought were unnecessary. I have always mentioned this to Dr. Mathis and she has always taken care of it. The important thing is to develop a relationship with the vet and insist on seeing the same vet every time. You have to insist.

I feel taken advantage of by Pets Are People Too. I took my dog here in an emergency situation (there was blood in his urine) and he was diagnosed with a urinary infection and the prescribed him an antibiotic. Turns out I paid 150 dollars for a 10 day supply of antibiotic. I took him to my usual vet the next day and was told they could have prescribed a similar, generic antibiotic for $15 dollars. I paid 10 times as much for the medication simply because it was an emergency situation - I feel like they took advantage of my emotional state. I will be looking into an alternative for emergency care.

My experience at Pets are people too was average. I was taken back for an assessment fairly quickly, the vet tech and vet were gentle with my cat. My cat was having bloody diarrhea and put on medication, however, i was never really given an answer as to what was actually wrong with her. Unfortunately she is still sick, so i will have to bring her back in to get more medication.
