Franks is about as close as you're going to get, outside of a plane ticket to Philly. It's all fresh and the portions are great. Plus, you can get some nice back east extras, such as Tastee Kakes and Italian Ice. Even the gal behind the counter has that great "Philly Flair". Check it out!

Though I've never been to Philidelphia I'm told that Philly Franks is the closest thing you'll get to a real cheeseteak in CA (they tell me it's because he uses the cheese-whizzy cheese, just like in Philly). The sandwhiches are big (about 10-12 inches) and buried in beef, cheese and sauteed onions. Overall they're great and beat anything you'll find in a typical restaurant. (Not a green pepper to be found). They offer several varieties of cheeseteak and well as hoagies and italian ices. Great for dinner, though they can be a little slow (10-15 min)and pricey ($8-9 for sandwhich and drink) for lunch. Well worth a try if you've never been.
