Good Doctors and Added Benefits, 7/18/2011

I don't understand what went wrong for the other reviewer - sounds like a billing mistake that was not corrected. I am very happy with my primary care doctor and with all the services, including... the blood and urine tests at Piedmont Physicians at Vinings. In addition, they keep another office open on Saturdays so that if need to be seen for some non-life threating reason (mine was a spider bite), you can walk in and be seen without going to an emergency room. I have never had any billing problems and I've been going to this office for almost ten years. In addition, they always have a doctor on-call after hours, so you will get a prompt call back if you need to call in for a problem after hours.

Overcharges for common tests, shop around, 2/25/2010

I had no idea that I would be billed such an amount for the tests that were conducted in the office next door to my doctor’s office. I went to where he sent me. Not until after receiving my bill,... and also speaking to Aetna, was I aware that this office visit for tests was being billed as a “Hospital” visit. I should have been warned by my doctor that I would be billed as a "hospital" visit rather than a doctor's office visit. A doctors office visit would have been covered 100% I should have also been warned by the office that did the tests that my insurance would only pay a portion of the charges, or they should have called my insurance company and verified for me, how much of the charge would be covered (my insurance company tells me that they would have provided and estimate of coverage). None of which were done. Needless to say I am frustrated. To add even more frustration, I am on the same plan as my partner with the exact same coverage, he had the same exact tests done in a doctor’s office 2 weeks later at half the price $1495 compared to what you charged $2924. Aetna paid 100% of his claim. Had I known this I would have “shopped around.” This is why the American public is so very frustrated with private health care. How can you justify billing the insurance company for twice the amount for the same tests? No wonder they paid you less then the full amount due. Take my experience as a warning to shop around for your cardio tests and ask about costs.
