I was looking for a dining table that was out of stock at other Pier 1 locations. I called this location, about 10 miles away, and I provided the SKU number which I received from another store. I specifically told the woman who answered that I did not want a table that had been used as a floor model. The woman told me there were 2 in stock. She said she would check to see if they were in the back or on the floor as models, and would call me back in a few minutes. I waited an hour, then called back. The same woman answered, said she hadn't called me because they had been "slammed" and while she hadn't checked the back room, she had checked the floor and only one table was there, so the other must be in the back. I drove to the store within an hour. It was a very rainy Sunday, and there was ONE other customer in the store when I arrived. I find it hard to believe they were "slammed" less than an hour earlier, especially so "slammed" that she could not take a moment to check the back room. Even worse, I had been in the store less than 2 minutes when I see two models of the table I am looking for, both being used as floor models. They were in clear, plain view! The woman specifically told me she had checked the floor and only one was there! She did not even apologize! She said "oh my goodness, where is my head at?" when I pointed out the obvious 2nd table. She then told me I should just buy the floor model, which had multiple scratches and dents. No thanks.
