2 Big Slices from the case and a Soda for 6 bucks is a pretty awesome anytime deal but add the fact that it is the best Pizza in Town just makes it all the better. Most of the issues the restaurant... has is that it's a victim of it's own success. They could double the size of the place and still fail to meet demand during the peak periods. To get the best experience avoid the dinner rush.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

I love food and I think of myself as a customer oriented person. That's why it makes it hard to write this particular review. The Pizza at Pizzeria Luigi is excellent but their customer service sucks. I feel like I'm in NY when I go there. You get the feeling that "You're lucky" to be eating their pizza. Last night I went their at 6:30pm and they didn't have hardly any pizza in the case. Just a bunch of empty trays and a few mixed slices. ?? I asked them if any pizzas were coming out soon and he said "No" That's it.. One word. I asked why and he said they were taking care of phone orders and didn't have room in the oven. WEAK... Apparently at this NY place walking in isn't an option. It's just extra business for them. The sad thing is I live right by Bronx and drove 10 minutes to get to Luigi. I should've stuck with my more polite Boyz at Bronx.. Fast forward two weeks. My good friend went to Pizzaria Luigi and told me about a pretty gross incident. He asked the guy behind the counter for a side of pizza sauce. The guy proceeded to make a side of sauce and before he handed it to my friend, he used his finger to wipe the sauce off the side of the cup and then stuck his finger in his mouth.... RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FRIEND.. gross!!!

Luigi's pizza has a great selection of freshly prepared pizza's that you can get by the slice or by order. Luigi has perfected the crust and topped it with high quality in a great variety of combinations from spinach gorgonzola to fresh tomatoes and basil... oh yeah, some of them have tasty meat on top too. It's in Golden Hill and has inside seating as well as a nice outside patio.

its good to see more and more great pizza joints! the whole frozen pizza ordeal at pizza hut was horrible to find out that news. knowing that this place makes their pizzas fresh and taste does prove it! great place and will return

Hands down Luigi's is the best. The place isn't fancy or big, but it doesn't have to be as good as it is. The pesto pizza is to die for. I used to think Bronx Pizza was the best pizza in SD until I happened to eat pizza in both locations about an hour apart (don't ask....) and Luigi blew away Bronx. Bronx is great. Luigi is better.

This hole in the wall pizza joint in Golden Hill is top-notch. My father, who is from Brooklyn, insists on eating there at least once a week. They offer the classics: pepperoni, cheese, etc, as well as more gourmet pies: ricotta and spinach, vegetarian, and more. The staff are friendly and they offer a $5 special that includes two huge slices and a drink (you can also substitute a salad for one of your slices). I recommend it to anyone who is jonesing for good New York pizza.
