Place was packed...overbooked. My appt started 30 min late and was incomplete. Very unprofessional.
I was having my daughter's 3rd birthday photos taken a few weeks before her birthday and she was a little difficult at first, after all, she was still technically a two year old, and she's shy by... nature. The photographers were laughing at her, which made her more shy, and one photographer even told me she expected her to be a young 2 by the way she was acting. Very rude. Then when I went to look at the pictures, there's a lot of pressure to buy the most expensive package, they make you feel as if you're a terrible parent if you don't buy every shot. I will never go back.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

My siblings, our spouses, children, and I scheduled an appointment to take family photos for a gift to our parents for their golden wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, the women who directed us and took the pictures were very hurried, took very few shots, did not consider the purpose of the shoot when arranging everybody, arranged us in strange asymmetric poses, literally rolled their eyes at one request to seat us more comfortably (they had us in awkward, twisted positions), argued with us about another request to arrange us so that spouses and children stood close to one another, and worst of all, some of the arrangements we wanted (e.g., siblings only, no spouses, no grandchildren) turned out so badly that there wasn't even a shot that was good enough to purchase. Asking a friend to take the pictures would likely have been just as good, and the experience would have been more pleasant. This was a very disappointing experience, and sadly, I can't recommend these folks.

Portrait Innovations at the Avenues serves up a big ZERO as far as customer service is concerned. Here are the reasons why you SHOULD NOT go to Portrait Innovations. 1. Wait time is over 2 to 3 hours 2. They rush you through your pictures. 3. The so called photographers make rude comments about the people getting their pictures taken. 4. The pricing is way to much for the sucky quality of pictures. I used to go there every year for pictures but now I will never go back!!!!

This was my first experience with PI. My brother and sister-in-law used this company in Mobile, AL to take pictures of my niece at Christmas time. The pictures were cute and well priced and overall turned out well. When they were in town over the weekend we decided to try out PI to get some family shots. We went on a Sunday morning, had an appointment and this palce was packed. We had to wait 30 minutes which wasn't as bad as I anticipated based on the number of people in the place. When it was finally our turn out photographer RUSHED us through the shoot and kept asking us "what shots do you want?" I didn't know we should have compiled a list of all the shots we wanted before going in there. I have had professional pictures before and the photographer has always taken charge and desigend the shots. Maybe the problem is PI is not using PROFESSIONAL photographers. When we were done taking pics we were rushed to make our selections. They really rushed through all the shots and had no patience when we wanted to go back and look at our selections. We ended up spending over $300 to get all the pictures we selected. When we picked them up from being printed they looked like crap. The "white" background came out grey and all the pictures were MUCH darker than they appeared on the screen during the selection process. It was a waste of time and money dealing with PI. We won't be going back.

We set an appointment to have family pictures, this was our first time. They were so ready to introduce you to the specials and all the add ons. They took quite about of photos but too many were similiar. When my son and his girlfriend went in the same week, they were told they could not get the special because he had already been in a previous appointment with us. They went because I recommended them but were treated as if they were part of our take but could not be included in our package. The associate indicated since we had been in one picture already taken we would not be able to purchase any specials again. He indicated that the poster in the window indicated that you could not be in two picture settings. We should have been treated as separate customers. I will not recommend this company to anyone and we are returning to Family Photo where they treat each customer with the same courtesy and offers.

I have had PI take many, MANY pictures of our family over the yrs. Overall they do a very good job given that it is not technically a professional photograper (such as one you would find at a wedding). They take your pictures and give them to you in a hour or so on the same day. Pricing is a little steep once you step outside of the single pose $10 package so buyer beware! The photographers will work with you to make sure you get the shot you want so speak up if you have something in mind! I usually am very involved in the process with the kids and the phototog so that we get great shots. Sometimes kids will not cooperate though and that is just part of the process. I wish you could buy the CD at a nominal price, for email purposes but I understand they are a business and trying to earn a profit like any other business. They do tend to overbook so if you can go during they weekday, that is best.

I have had this company do photos 2 times. They do get good poses, and make a fun time for the kids. The overall is wonderful. I would complain that my kid had a little leftover something on his lip that I didn't notice, but a photographer should have noticed. It was visib;e in the larger photos. They did allow me to redo this in a later session at no cost though. They should have told me to sit up straight in my photos. I looked slouchy. The cost is WAY MORE than I should have ever spent on photos. It was like my wedding photos all over again! After the session it was $600 and we narrowed it down to a little over $300. It's too much. Overall, they do a good job. I will go back.

We have being going to Portriat Innovations for over 2 years and have had some amazing pictures taken of our daughter and family. Of course we have also gone and had some terrible sessions as well. But the great thing about this set up is if the pictures aren't good - you have no obligation to buy anything and can come back another time - which we have done. It isn't always their fault - sometimes toddlers just don't cooperate but the waiting doesn't help the situation and some photographers are just better than others. But I'm sure we'll keep going back as she gets older and more cooperative and hopefully have less "bad" days.

I have been to this portrait innovations for the last two years. Everytime I have gone I have waited at least 15-30 minutes past my appointment time. The pictures are great and you get a lot of pictures for your money so I have continued to go back. I went this last weekend and had a horrible experience and I will not go back to this portrait innovations again. I waited an hour past my appointment time and by the time I was seen both my children(2 and 3 months) were tired and cranky. The photographer immedialty asked me to reschedule. We asked them if we could come back later the same day and they told us they were booked without even looking at the appt. book. We finally got our pictures taken after being there for over 3 hours. We then were told that we had to wait an hour for our pictures. When we got our pictures they were not the ones that we had ordered. The staff was very rude and not once did the apologize for running behind. They were overbooked and just wanted me in and out. We had two different photographers. The first one didn't even try to work with my children and get them to smile. The second one was better. I would not recommend this portrait innovations and I will not go back again. I have heard the Johns Creek one is better so I will try that one next time.

This studio is great for value - here's why, you go there, get your pictures taken and have them in hand the same day. They have great props, and the pictures are professional. Here's the thing - they are always overbooked - always - never been there when they weren't. You have to typically wait an hour from the time your session ends until your pictures are printed. You will never get them on time. Never. The photographers are very stressed because you have all these kids who are having breakdowns due to the fact that they are always behind on schedule. As a parent - it's not even worth it. I have been there three times, all three times, have been taken at a minimum of a half hour past my appt time, but up to 1.5 hours behind. The photographers have been rude and in a hurry - of course, they are trying to get so many people through (due to being behind) it is a vicious cycle. If you go there, plan on being behind and spending the ENTIRE day there. My friend recently went and when her child (3 months old) started crying, after being taken 45 mins past appt time, was asked to come back when her child was in a better mood. I changed at christmas to the John's Creek PI and was much happier. They run on time, their staff is happier, they have more studios and they do the same service. Go there, don't waste your time at the Avenues - it isn't worth the headache.

I just had my first child this past summer. Being a super excited first mom i planned to go overboard with photos. Initially I used the expensive formal "portrait studios" and did not feel the money we spent was worth it. On a referral from a good friend, I used Portrait Innovations for my son's first set of photos. All I can say is Wow! He smiled in every picture (except 1) the selection was phenomenol the photographer did a GREAT job and I was amazed at the large variety of great photographs to chose from. It was a great experience and I will use them for all my photographs in the future. I even took a friend with me who had her daughter the day after my son and we are both sold. Wish we BOTH had known about PI sooner.

I take my son here everytime we have pictures done because I recevie so much pictures for my money. I have been to all of the big name portrait studios and this one by far is the best value. My only complaint is that they use the same backgrounds and props everytime. You get the same pictures year after year unless you bring your own props. Good Luck!
