If you need a gown . . . , 2/19/2011

If you're going to a ball in New Orleans, you just have to visit Cynthia at Prima Donna's Closet. She's fabulous, hard working, and creative. Tell her a little about yourself and she'll be able to... find a gown that fits your profile.I'm new to New Orleans. It was my first Mardi Gras ball. She knew the standards and expectations of the particular ball. Rather than run all over town, I asked her to help me coordinate the shoes as well as the jewelry and the opera length gloves. I am all set! You'll love Cynthia!

Buyers and Sellers Beware, 5/18/2010

I will never do business with Prima Donna?s Closet again. They won?t share the paperwork that shows how they price the clothing, but one salesperson accidentally showed me my paperwork. I noticed... they priced some of my consignment clothing at prices that were higher than what I paid for those items when they were brand new. My consignment check was around 6% of their total assigned sales value, which was much lower than the expected 40% as stated in the contract. When I asked why, I was told my items had been placed on sale and that I was receiving 40% of the lower sales price. They had no paperwork to back up the mark downs or receipts to show the actual sale prices. When I went to pick up my unsold items, I was told they would pull them for me. Then when I returned to pick them up, I was told they were lost, and then I was told they were mistakenly donated without authorization after I requested their return. The sales people admitted there was a problem, but the owner was extremely rude and denied fault until I filed a complaint with the BBB. I found it unusual that the BBB closed the complaint administratively even though the owner admitted fault in her written response to them. I don?t think she knew what happened to my clothes. It wouldn?t surprise me one bit if they transferred the items to another location to be sold. I should go take a look. Who knows when their bookkeeping is so inadequate.
