After graduating from college in 1993, I immediately became employed using my education! I worked in public accounting and attained my Certified Public Accountants license in 1995. Whew! What a hurdle!
(Why spend all that time and money being educated for five years, trained for two years and then be paying back the Student Loan Assistance Foundation for the next ten years for a license? ? Well?uh?I don?t know. You?re supposed to make more money, right? My first corporate job I earned a salary of $16,000 per year with a contracted amount of hours of 2,800 ? That?s 55 hours per week, at least, and taking 1 week of vacation. Hellooooowwww!!! Do you think that I could pay my bills as a 23 year old living on my own in a strange (but more populated) town with high car insurance, student loans and no credit to ?help? me when I needed to eat and buy gas to get me to my job? ? Nooooooo! Boy, I?m glad those days are over).
However, I am not financially secure or free, by any means!
About 4 years ago I came to a crossroads in my life, good job (more money!) or good family (and live at a lower standard of living). Well, who wants to give up their house? We didn?t, but?we sold it 5 months after I stepped down from my job and bought a modular home (trailer house) and have been on a journey to replace my income without having a job ever since.
I started my own Tax and Accounting business out of my home right away and had a great tax season, but later learned from the state that I needed to use certain programs and have certain capital in order to legally charge for my services if working from home. Frustrated with the incredibly stringent laws and low on capital, my husband and I decided that we weren?t at a place to go in to any more debt in order to comply. So?I got a job!
Part time, mind you. Yes, as an accountant for a growing Montana business. It was just to help make ends meet until ?our plan? came together at home.
