On July 8, 2010 my son's pediatrician advised me to take him to a pediatric cardiologist due to consistently high blood pressure over his last 3 annual visits. He is 17, not overweight, and his blood pressure has been over 140 when checked by the pediatrician, and always over 135 when taken at home. On July 9 at 3:10pm I left a message on the scheduling line at Childrens (858-966-5855). When I had not received a return call within 24 hours, on July 12 at 3:30pm I again called and informed the person who answered that I had previously left a message, but she merely forwarded my call and I again left a message. On July 13 my son's pediatrician sent a referral to Childrens for him to to see a cardiologist at Childrens. As of today, July 14, we have heard nothing from anyone at Childrens Hospital. We finally scheduled an EKG and other tests at an adult clinic, even though his pediatrician believes he needs to be seen by a pediatric cardiologist. Needless to say, we are incredibly frustrated at the lack of any response by Childrens, and if there were an alternative would definitely never use Childrens Hospital again.
