The worst haircut and customer service in Woodbridge-Irvine, 9/08/2008

I have a 4-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter. We moved to Irvine 2 months ago. This is a walking distance from our house-the location is so convenient that we chose to go there for the kids... haircut. Both my husband and I were sorry that we did. Not only that our kids got the worst haircut ever, the customer service was terrible. Do not waste your time with this place. The ladies are rude-the place is not geared for children. It is not the cheapest place either.

Unacceptable customer service, acceptable haircut when they actually do it?, 6/15/2007

If I had reviewed this Rainbow Kids three months ago, when I first had my older son?s hair cut there, I would have probably given it 4 out of 5 stars ? reasonable rates, a friendly hairdresser,... acceptable haircut. Today, we were 10 minutes late for two parallel 5:30 appointments for both of our boys. My husband called them and told them we were on our way, and they said they?ll still take us if we get there in the next few minutes. 5:42 we walk in after finally finding parking at the opposite end of the mall. The salon is wiped clean. I profusely apologize we?re late to the receptionist, who is holding a pile of cash ? I assume closing the register. ?It?s up to the hairdressers,? she says. Two of them emerge from the back room and state they?re not paid overtime (the salon is open until 6pm). I apologize again, and suggest paying them cash for whatever overtime they require, plus leave an extra tip ? it is that important to me to get this done? It is not the easiest thing to get a 1-1/2 year old and a 3-1/2 year old somewhere on time against the odds -- the big guy needed to be fully changed since he was soaking wet after waterplay at his pre-school (it has never happened before) and there was a fender-bender on the way so a three-lane street was reduced to two on a rush-hour Friday pm ? but do I have time to explain all that? No. I just apologize for a third time we?re late. And silly me, I expect a little bit of service from a place dedicated to kids haircuts ? they should know that things happen with two kids in tow? So instead of spreading the word to all my friends with young children of how awesome their service has been and how they have accommodated us by extending their hours by a few minutes, I?m forced to write this steaming angry review? And never go there again.
