Rancho San Diego Animal Hospital

Rancho San Diego Animal Hospital is a place where animal lovers care for animals (common house animals or exotic). In my attempts to heal my two little turtles, I have had the pleasure of meeting the staff at RSDAH. After the first visit, they knew my pet's names and their background. Doctors, nurses and techs have been gently and kindly caring for my pets. I am very grateful to have found an animal clinic with genuine, caring and knowledgeable staff. The prices are given prior to any treatment and recommendations seem fair. I highly recommend this place!

Our dog had a broken tooth, we had called for a price prior to taking him in, the price we were told on the phone was $350 to pull it. However, after receiving the estimate in the office the $1200 was nowhere obviously near that. I received a call from staff while they had our dog asleep, they informed me that the tooth could be saved and he was an excellent candidate for a root canal. I assumed that since they did nothing I should only be paying a few hundred dollars for shots, xrays and anesthesia. What they didn't inform me of at any point was that they had cleaned his teeth and pulled the broken spot of tooth off. I get there to pick my dog up and ended up with a $700 vet bill and still a broken tooth. They also did not inform me that they were sending us to the most expensive BOARD CERTIFIED vet dentist in SD, we called to get a price from them and were told it would be around $2,000 for the tooth to be fixed. This office lied to us the next day on the phone stating that they explained the higher end of the estimate was if they actually pulled the tooth and the lower end of the estimate was if they did not pull it. What the girl ACTUALLY said was don't panic at the amount of the estimate, I overestimated just in case he needed more anesthesia and nerve blocks because it was painful. OH and add in the fact that when we called back the next day the estimate had gone up to $1300 from $1200..EXTREMELY UNHAPPY AND WILL LET EVERYBODY I KNOW DON'T GO HERE

I have a long history at this office, at least 7-8 yrs. Last April 08, I overheard the staff talking about a lady's bird who'd past the night before and commenting rudely about it. I realized that they really were at a JOB! nothing more. I continued another year with 2 different animals,the constant "upselling" of potential do- good medication was too much. We brought concerns to Dr Brown,she was on the defense and said unprofessional things to us. Never again! And No, Dr. Brown.. We won't go to cheap Vets like you sharply advised us to do.

Had to take my parakeet "Mulder" in. He had tumors & final could not sit or walk. They were very caring & sympathic with me. Gave he back to me to say goodbye and that was it.Took him home to bury him, so he is always with me. Prices were reasonable too. A++++

They are great pet hospital and very knowledgable about exotic pets, too. Staff is friendly. Doctors have great bed side matter with pets and owners.
