David, your willingness to deal with the insurance companies was such a relief and your continued involvement throughout the process was a great comfort. Most of all, thank you for Mark. He is everything I could have asked for in a project manager – dependable, honest, thoughtful, courteous, hard working. I’m sure he was juggling many jobs during the course of my project, but he somehow always managed to make me feel like my job was a priority. That’s a gift! We recently purchased a 1960's ranch in Atlanta, with the intention of renovating the kitchen and finishing the basement. We knew we wanted to work with a design-build firm and based on former client reviews and a referral from a friend, we chose Renewal Design-Build after careful consideration.

We couldn't be happier with our decision! They removed an entire wall from our kitchen to create an open, bright floor plan and added a beautiful island and tons of storage to the kitchen. They also finished our basement adding a guest bedroom, bath, storage, and a play area for the kids. They worked closely with us on all design decisions and didn't complete the job until we were completely satisfied. I would definitely recommend them to friends and neighbors. We're already planning our next renovation and we will most certainly choose Renewal again!

In the summer of 2011 we looked at a house in a great location, but that was in need of some serious help. Before we even considered putting in an offer, we decided to contact Renewal for help. Renewal stayed with us every step of the way. First, they conducted a site visit to determine if we could do all of the things we wanted and advise us on likely costs. After closing, we worked closely with our architect and designer for several months to refine our design. Our architect and designer really listened to our priorities and came up with our dream home. Once the project broke ground, we worked closely with our project manager, who kept us informed of progress and was always accessible to us for any questions or concerns. We have just moved into our finished home and could not be happier! Our entire team was so enthusiastic throughout the project, despite the fact that it was a very labor intensive and complex. Everyone at Renewal, from administrative assistants, billing and public relations to architects, designers, project coordinators all the way up to the company president were helpful, friendly, responsive and knowledgeable. Our project manager was particularly able to respond calmly and effectively to unexpected developments (which are going to happen even with the best due diligence ahead of time). Our new (old) dream home has really been the product of such hard work and dedication on the part of the Renewal team.

After nearly 4 months in design phase and no measurable progress, we fired RDB and forfeited a retainer of thousand$$. It became clear to us that RDB could not honor their own pricing for the work as specified and still make the sizable profit they wanted. At their request, we made cuts to our job, but when we refused to further compromise our design with respect to our original agreement, RDB virtually quit working. 14 weeks in and we still had not specified our details & materials, and in most cases we hadn't even seen samples-- in spite of this, they started price haggling and pressuring us to sign a construction contract. We were left questioning their ethics and consequently, they lost our trust. Rather than continue to work with RDB and accept less than what they had agreed they could do (and we knew was within budget) we chose to forfeit our retainer and fire them. RDB's follow up? They were satisfied with their performance and regretted that we were a poor fit for their “process.” In our 20+ years of remodeling, this truly was one of the worst, most painful experiences. We were professional to the end, then took the high road out of there--we have no regrets for that.

The design phase of the project was very satisfying and I appreciated the ideas that the team brought to this project. When the project was underway they kept me well-informed and were very responsive to questions and issues. At the close of the project when they cleaned up my house was cleaner than it had ever been.
