Wahoo!
Hurray, finally a sushi place that's actually worth a re-visit! We found Rise through Crowd Cut and were definitely pleased by everything they had to offer. We sat at the sushi bar & had the pleasure of being well taken care of by the sushi chef behind the counter, chatting and watching him prepare our ultra fresh rolls. I was so excited to see such freshness and variety. Drew got the Bullet Train roll, which featured beautiful ono wahoo brought from Hawaii. I was very happy with my Dancing Crab roll, stuffed with spicy crab salad and topped with the sweetest shrimp I've ever had. Delectable. It was a pleasure to see high quality ingredients combined with care and creativity to make such delightful bite sized yummy bits of goodness. Rise was an excellent find; thanks Crowd Cut!

After three years I've finally found good Sashimi!!!
So today I dropped off a friend at an appointment Downtown and I had an hour to kill and I was really hungry and saw RISE. I usually have low expectations from Sushi restaurants in Atlanta, as most of them totally suck. So when I walked into RISE, I expected nothing more than the usual combo "steak-sushi-lounge" bull@#$% you find around town. I grew up in Southern California and my expectations are a little snobby when it comes to fresh fish. I dont eat tempura or fried rolls or that other Americanized Japanese cuisine. I LOVE sashimi and nigiri, and most places dont makes it the way I'm used to having it. The owner, Tong, was my Sushi chef and went above and beyond my expectations. He even offered samples of fish I had never tried before. It was such a good experience and I cannot wait to go back. It almost makes me happy that my friend had to go to court so I could finally end my search for good sushi that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

trendy, but decent
A friend and I visited Rise last night and after reading some reviews I wasn't expecting much. The atmosphere was nice, kinda trendy wannabe Japanese decor, dim lighting, and not to loud. We got there about eight thirty and were immediately sat by a scantly clad hostess and our drink order was taken shortly after by an even less dressed waitress. We ordered a 21 oz. Asahi and some warm sake. The sake was generic but what I expected for the price. We started with the spring rolls and salt & pepper calamari. The calamari was good, cooked well, not chewy, but the sauce it came with was not very flavorful and the spring rolls tasted like the same old crap you get from a delivery joint with the same bland sauce the calamari came with. Next we had the Derby roll, a spicy tuna roll that was topped with shrimp and scallops and drizzled with a ginger mango soy glaze. The presentation and flavor profile was nice, not too spicy with the sweet soy glaze, but I thought the execution was amateur. After the derby we ordered a long beach roll with tuna and cucumber topped with salmon, avocado, green onions, and thinly sliced fresh jalapenos which I really enjoyed. The fresh garden flavors come out with the green onions and jalapenos then finishes with the heat, but once again poorly rolled and stuck to the plate (I know sushi rice is sticky but it seemed like they may have reshaped some of the pieces once they where already on the plate smashing them onto it). All in all not a bad place, but not somewhere I will go back to. There's so many better places to get sushi without the lame ass scene and wannabe's drinking at or working behind the bar.

Best in Town
We came here last saturday night for my friend's birthday with a group of 17 other people. not only was our food delicious-- the sushi was fresh and innovative-- but the service was impeccable! usually when dining with a large group of friends, especially my friends who always like to alter their orders, the kitchen/wait staff always seems to mess up one of our orders, but they got everything exactly right! i like to eat out a lot and am always annoyed when i have to send my food back, so i was pleasantly surprised when everything came out exactly (and better) than expected! it was also not too loud to hear conversation across the table. what a great experience for such a big group! i will definitely be returning here soon.

Don't go without three hours!
We went after a tradshow since it was close the Georgia World Congress Center, and figured it was a convenient choice. Not a good dining experience, especially when we had to place the same sushi order twice, and kept waiting "5 minutes". Choose another restaurant.
