Salvatore Trattoria

I am Italian and moved here from New York. This is by far the very best Italian food I have ever had in the south. The service is excellent and the quality excels. Thanks for being here Salvatore and family.

Now called Amalfi's, this restaurant is the best italian I've had since my wedding in Rome and the best I 've had in Atlanta. The red sauce at Amalfi's is simple, but honest and fresh;it reminds me of the best red sauce I had in Rome in a littel restaurant right off of Piazza Navona. The gnocchi is fantastic and comforting and I've had it a million times and it is consistently cooked perfectly.
The staff is informal yet attentive and crisp in service.

The wait staff was very attentive to the regulars and totally ignored us. I had a shrimp dish that tasted like it was swimming in brine. My wife was shocked when I said it was too salty for me—she didn’t think that was possible. Another guest at my table had it and agreed. It was so salty that it gave me instant heartburn. I would have complained to the wait staff, but they were ignoring me and chitchatting with the regulars. The waiter did get a $.01 tip from me—something I rarely do.

After reading reviews, my boyfriend and I decided to check out this place. What an incredible dining experience. This restaurant is not called Salvatore Trattoria anymore, it's now called something starting with an A, maybe Affinia or Afina. I can't remember. After being put on a list for a non-smoking table, the bus boy offered us a table in the bar area without a wait. We took it, although I'm not one for smoker's, but the smell was not overwhelming by any means. We ordered a bottle of wine after our server's suggestion and were not disappointed. In addition, we tried the calamari appetizer, which after eating all the rings and no legs, our server noticed and made us a fresh batch of rings only. You're also served kalamata olives and bread with olive oil and parmesan cheese dip, both of which were delicious. The entrees, all reasonably priced ($12-25) sounded delicious, however I would strongly recommend trying one of the pasta dishes. The flavors of their sauce is to die for! We also ordered the creme brulee that had a good presentation and tasted as well. I cannot emphasize enough how incredible the service was. By far, the best service I have received in years. The waiter assured us he would remember our preference for ring only calamari next time. In addition, the place is full of regular customers, who are obviously taken care of, but that doesn't mean that new customers are left to the remains. We will definitely return for their great food and great service again!

The family who operates this restaurant serves outstanding, authentic Italian cuisine. The chef is outstanding and I can recommend everything on the menu and some of the things that are not on the menu. Salvatore warmly greets all of his customers. This is our favorite restaurant in Atlanta. Save room for dessert. We drive 30-40 minutes about three times a month to eat there, because it is so good and reasonably priced.
