Dr. Salzberg and Donna are the best doctor/nurse team I have ever worked with in my life. They used a new drug to get my UC under control, and I have been symptom free for two years now. Whenever I have any health related issue, I call Donna and Dr. S first because they know how other illnesses affect my condition. Dr. S is a SPECIALIST in UC and Chron's, so his expertise in these areas is light years beyond your standard gastroenterologist. Before you get surgery, go see Dr. S.

I went to Dr. Salzberg for a second opinion and I am SO glad I did! I only had one visit with him so far but he has given me more information in the one visit than I have been able to get from any other doctor in years. He was very pleasant and took the time to explain everything to me as far as my symptoms and options. His staff was very pleasant and helpful. His office is not close to where I live but he is well worth the drive. Thanks Dr. Salzberg!

Salzberg is a legend in his own mind, but he will deign to give you some of his time - as long as the conversation is not about YOU too much. If you tell him anything, put it in terms that are as factual as possible, and avoid any kind of shading; he requires black & white to get it. But to make sure, you MUST ask him to repeat back what you have told him, because he usually isn't listening. Use small sentences so he can more easily absorb what you're saying. Long sentences will bore him, because they probably won't be about HIM. Write down what he has told you, and read it back to him to make sure you got it right. I'm not kidding. He'll say anything to finish the transaction.

If you turn out to get a HEALTHY pronouncement as I did, schedule your next periodic review with someone else.

Salzberg knows what he is doing but can come across fairly rude at first. Once you get to know him you understand that it is just his personality and it isn't that big of a deal. So don't worry about it as he is an expert in Colitis, etc and can get you better. He won't sugar coat anything which is good as you will know exactly what is going on and not have to wonder did he mean this or mean that.

I've seen Dr. Salzberg several times now. I chose him over all the other doctors at Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates because Google showed he was the most published doctor and was very active in Chrons research.

Like the person said before me, he definately does not beat around the bush. I didn't care for this though, when I was explaining to him what my problems are he cut me off mid-sentence and it just felt like he had other more important things to do then deal with me at the time.

That being said, he definately knows what he's doing. He was able to resolve my condition and even did my colonoscopy himself.

Overall I like the guy, I just wish his bed side manner was a bit better.
