It has been a great experience working with Greg Shantz and his crews for my new roof and siding needs. They have exceeded all my expectations, earned my trust & all my future home improvement needs. Everyone was dedicated to meet my full satisfaction, very proficient in their work and simply a pleasure to work with. Absolutely top-notch performance and value. Give them the opportunity to show you what they can do. This job was our first undertaking and it will not be our last. There is simply no substitute for me or my greatest investment; my home. They are simply THE BEST!!

I had my roof replaced by Schantz in '94. Recently I noticed a water spot on my ceiling. I was informed that the workmanship warranty of 5 yrs was up but someone would come out to investigate the roof. Within a week of my initial call, Danny Wilson came out to investigate. I have a small house and roof line so he climbed up to the roof and quickly found the problem. He showed me the pictures he took of the culprit; pine straw needles and leaves that got under the shingles. Thankfully it's a manageable maintenance problem. Because it's a small job and their minimum would be more than the value of the job he told me exactly what needed to be done if I wanted to get someone else on my own. He also advised me on another potential issue and what to do about it. The best tip he gave me was to have the repairer to take pictures to show that the work was done correctly since I'm not climbing on top of the roof to look at it. Thank you Danny Wilson!

Were glad we could assist and sorry you had an issue although were glad is was not related to our work. We now offer a Lifetime Golden Pledge warranty through our GAF Master Elite certification.
Hired to replace an exterior (front) door and repair a rear door and window. The new front door looks and operates nicely and is very high quality. The installer was knowledgeable, and eased my concerns about my leaking window. A minor miscommunication about the door hardware was addressed quickly and adequately. The work was completed as scheduled.

I had to become the project manager of my siding and roof replacement to ensure the job went according to contract. Schantz installed wrong color roofing shingles, installed siding with excessive amount of face nails, broke an external gas line and didn't have the gas shut off to the house (just let it continue flowing), painted using inferior paint than in contract, pressured for payment prior to job completion, didn't tape house wrap to window frames as stated in the contract, left trash (beverage containers, fast food wrappers) in several locations across my property, never got promised case of matching roofing shingles for repairs. And, although there is a picture of using weather watch product at eaves and discussing the value of using it there, doesn't install it at the eves since Georgia code doesn't require it (and it isn't required since we don't average below 25 deg in January or experience hurricane winds). I wrongly assumed that the picture in the contract represented weather watch use in all vulnerable areas. The things done right were promptly returning my phone calls and ultimately reaching an agreement so we could finish the project. The end result was acceptable, but all of the issues were preventable and unacceptable. There are contractors in the Atlanta area that would have proactively prevented these mistakes in the first place.

Your job was completed 3 years ago. You may find this odd, but I thank you for posting this review. I've actually shared your project with many customers. First, you are correct that many items did not go well in your installation. No one is perfect and we are not an exception. However, when things go wrong, I would like to think this is where Schantz excels over other contractors. GAF had just introduced their new line of colors, and it took 5 days before anyone realized the wrong color was installed. The supplier had delivered the wrong color. I offered to replace the roof FREE of charge or credit you $2,332. You chose the credit. As for the leak barrier, we both know it is abundantly clear in the proposal (right next to the photo) where it is installed. We install in all required areas per GAF, not just the valleys as most roofers do. No one installs on the eaves as it is not required or necessary. This application is for ice dams (these don't occur in the south). The siding in the rear of the home did have many "face" nails. Rather than make repairs, I had my crew remove and dispose of the siding on the entire rear of the home (1100 SF) and start over. My painter did in fact use the wrong paint, and we painted the entire home again at no charge. Your home was a bank foreclosure and in disrepair. The gas line was a small flexible copper line for the grill (against code) that was stepped on 50 times prior to us arriving. I guess we were #51. We fixed it (up to code) with a hard gas line along with the 10 other items (rusted lights, electric outlets, etc) that you "pinned" on us and I repaired at no charge. Unfortunately, no matter how hard one tries, sometimes things do not go smoothly. I personally project managed your job and take full responsibility. The end result of your project was of high quality and timely even with the mishaps. Thanks for allowing me to fill in the blanks.
Greg and his team did a fabulous job working with our condo association. We have a 1920s building that was in desperate need of new hallway windows. From start to finish, this company was professional, courteous, and accomodating to our needs. Anyone should feel good about hiring Schantz for their window replacements.

Schantz Home Improvement installed a new roof on my house 1½ years ago. Their price was not the best, but I chose them because of their professional approach. They took time to thoroughly inspect my roof and took photographs to illustrate problem areas. Then they explained their recommendations, AND my options for each situation, AND answered all my questions. When they gave me their proposal it included photographs of the areas we discussed and described in detail what they would do for each situation. The roofing crew arrived on time, cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day, and covered exposed sections of roof with a tarp between days. This week I discovered water dripping from my porch ceiling during a heavy rain storm. My house is 100 years old so I know stuff happens. What happened next is the reason I am writing this review. Greg Schantz came out the next day and quickly discovered the problem, took photographs, and showed me what the problem was. Later the SAME DAY a crew arrived and made repairs in less than an hour! All the work was covered by the warranty, and there was no charge for the repairs. We have now had 24 hours of heavy rain with no leaks. I am very happy to report that Schantz' warranty service was just as thorough and courteous as their original work. If customer focus and prompt quality work are important to you, then Schantz gets my highest recommendation.

Thanks for the nice review Dave. We are sorry you experienced an issue at all.
My husband and I recently bought a house that needs quite a bit of work, including a new roof. I arranged to get estimates from 6 roofing companies, including Schantz. When they came out to provide the estimate, the gentleman who came out was punctual, courteous, and friendly. Out of all of the companies that came out, Schantz was the only one to bring written references, photos of their recent work, and they were the only company that wanted to get into the attic to inspect the roof decking. They weren't the cheapest estimate we got, but they weren't the most expensive, either, and they did an excellent job! They finished our entire roof in one day. I would definitely recommend Schantz Home Improvement to anyone who needs affordable quality work done and I will be keeping their number on file for any future work we may need.

Schantz Home Improvement did an excellent job of replacing our defective LP siding with Nichiha fiber cement siding which is similar to the Hardy Board Brand. The price was very fair and the workmanship and reliability of the crew was superb. During the time they worked on our house, there were several days when weather conditions caused inevitable delays.Their handling of this situation was particularly noteworthy. One of the things that stands out about this company is that they always make an effort to keep the customer updated on the status of the job and when to expect the crew when schedules change. This puts them head and shoulders above any other home improvement companies we have used.

I recently had a large window replaced in my house, with three smaller windows. Greg Schantz personally came out and gave us the estimate. The price was better than 4 prior estimates we had gotten, and there were NO pressure sale tactics, which I hate. Everything came in on time, the installation went as planned, and the final product is beautiful. Greg came out the day of installation to ask if I had any additional questions, and make sure everyone was on the same page. If I need to replace any more windows in my house, I will definitely call Schantz!

Schantz Home Improvement provided me the third estimate of five on installing HardiPlank siding, hanging two new windows, and painting on one side of my home. Although this company was not the least expensive, I had a good feeling about the company after meeting Greg so I scheduled a start date following the last estimate. I paid a $500.00 earnest and shortly thereafter received an outline in the mail detailing the work that would be completed. The crew who installed the siding was on time and willing to accommodate my schedule by starting the project on a Saturday. I was impressed with their carpentry skills. They completed the siding in one day. On Monday, the painters were there as scheduled. I was equally impressed with the painters by their level of detail and perfection. From the planning contacts with Panida and the delivery of the products to the excellent craftsmanship skills of the carpenters and painters, I was very satisfied with the results from beginning to end. With that being said, I know I will be calling upon them again once I am ready to complete the front side of my home.

Thanks David, it really was a pleasure working with you on this project.
I contracted Schantz Home Improvement to replace the roof on my home. I received a competitive estimate for the work, the crew showed up on time, spoke English and completed the job on time. They did a great job. I recommend Schantz Home Improvement for roof and gutter replacement. You will not be disappointed.

Of all the contractors I have dealt with over the years, Shantz is the only one that always returns calls promptly, always shows up when scheduled and always puts the customer first. I have had two substantial jobs done by Shantz in the past two years and could not be more pleased with the results. In both cases, they were definitely not the least expensive, but the quality of the work is top notch and they are dependable, number one in my book.

I purchased new gutters and windows from them. The representatives were very nice and easy to deal with. There were a few hang ups in my chosen windows with availability, but they walked me through the whole process and made it very easy. The whole project was much cheaper than I expected. The only thing that kept it getting five stars was that the gutter installer failed to make the installation date a few times due to personal matters, which is completely fine, but I wasn't always notified in advance. If I had gotten a call before the missed appointments it would have been five stars

Schantz recycles many of the old materials removed from your home. Asphalt (roofing) and metals (gutters) are brought to the scrap yard to be recycled instead of dumped in crowded landfills. Also, our windows are certified green and our main siding product is made from recycled fly ash. In our office, we re-use files, and use scrap paper rather than new sheets when practical. It all adds up!
