Be very cautious if you are considering doing business with this company. Their supplier tells me that Schell did not pay the supplier for my equipment and now the supplier is in process of filing a lien on my property. I have been informed by my attorney that Schell Heating & Air has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in February 2011.

SHELL was contracted to finish up the installation of the heating and air system that was Previously started by another Contractor. They installed 2 YORK outdoor compressor units. The first floor system is working fine (for now). But the second system for the top two floors of the house is not cooling properly. They sent a tech out to diagnose the problem and it was discovered that the Evaporator Coil (which was already installed in the house before they were contracted) has an "R-22 Expansion Value" and the York Compressor unit that they installed is a 410a cooling system. The fix for this: replace the Expansion value with one that is for a 410a cooling system. The Manufacture's Label on the Evaporator Coil states the unit is either R22/410a unit (which is the only info that Schell Heating & Air remembers), BUT IT ALSO SAYS: Model number ######### + V R22 NON BLEED V. Which mean (even for a lay person) that an R-22 Expansion Value is installed on the coil. A good Heating & Air company would have looked for possible miss matches in the system in this type of installation (finishing a job that another contractor started). I can not recommend any company that didn't check to see if any part of the systems needed to be changed to complete the installation. I had to hire another Contractor to fix this problem.
