This place is called Scooter Ria now and it SUCKS., 9/26/2011

I bought a 2004 TNG venice from Steve for $1200. He insisted that he had to register the car himself. Gave me some line about how he's a mechanic and only dealers can do registration on site. It... didn't sound fishy to me at the time, because I didn't know how these things worked. A whole YEAR later, I finally got him to actually register it by threatening to call the police. When I complained that I needed a plate because my temporary tag was expired, he suggested that I use scissors to cut the date off of the temporary tag. GENIUS!So, now I've got my registration, and guess what! He put the sale price down as $250! He charged me taxes on $1200, but only paid the state taxes on $250. The dude kept the difference for himself. That's fraud, friends. I'm reporting him to the district attorney, and I urge you to DO THE SAME if he got you too. the phone number is 504-822-2414.On top of that, he charged me $50 for a used helmet that sells new for $30. Buyer beware, I know. I didn't read the reviews before buying from him, or I would have known better.

DO NOT BUY A SCOOTER FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT!

I bought a 2009 TNG Venice from "Scooter Ria" (now "Garden District Scooters") last March. First, the owner of the shop (Steve Lopez) randomly charged $500.00 to my credit card, and it took 2 weeks for him to get me my money back. In the meantime, he gave me the runaround and was absent from the shop. Second, the shop was supposed to take care of my vehicle registration. My temporary tag ended up expiring and they issued me a new one, which also expired before I finally got my official plate (it took 6 months). Third, the scooter was sold to me with a $500 gas card from the manufacturer, which I never received. I don't think I would have bought the scooter if it weren't for the gas card. Fourth, the scooter frame recently broke in half (from normal use on New Orleans streets). I had the scooter for less than a year, and I found out the warranty is bogus because the manufacturer is out of business. Fifth, I never received the TITLE for my scooter, so even if I wanted to sell it, I couldn't. In the end, it was worth it to me to sell the scooter back to Steve for parts just so that I never have to deal with him or his shop ever again! The sleazebag "promised" not to put my scooter back on the street, since it is broken, but I don't believe a word he says. This business should be shut down. The owner is total thief & should go to jail.

DO NOT BUY A SCOOTER FROM STEVE

wow--I really wish I read these reviews before buying a scooter from Garden District Scooters, or whatever Steve is calling his shop on Sophie Wright Pl. now. I bought a 2009 TNG Venice last March. First, he charged $500 to my credit card and it took him 2 weeks to get me my money back. Second, the scooter was supposed to come with a $500 gas card from the manufacturer, which I never got. Third, Steve was supposed to take care of my registration. My first temporary tag expired and I had to get a second one. It took 6 months for me to get my plate. Fourth, the scooter frame broke in half (that's right!) less than a year from when I bought it & the warranty is not valid because TNG is out of business. Overall, it was worth selling the scooter back to Steve for parts just so I never have to deal with him or his sleazy shop ever again! Do not even walk in the door of this shop. He should be sued.

Terrible customer service

A few days after buying my used scooter, Scooter-Ria charged a random $1000 on my credit card. Even after talking with ""Scooter Steve"" multiple times and being assured the issue would be taken care of, I wasn't refunded the $1000 credit for 2 months.\r\rAdditionally, it's now been 3 months since I bought my scooter, and they still don't have my permnent license plate. I call weekly to ask about it, and Scooter Steve says the DMV is still catching up due to Katrina related issues. The guy is simply a liar and will do anything to sell you a cheap, poorly made Chinese scooter.\r\rThis place is a terrible place to buy a scooter from. I couldn't imagine a worse customer service experience. Simply interacting with this establishment is a highly regrettable mistake.

Horrible business.

I will never give my money to this place again.I have taken the same bike back to them for the same problems countless times. They hold it for too long, always find something new (which might be from the 30 miles I was able to get on it before the POS broke again), and generally don't complete the fix. Don't think that they will even consider talking to you about how to fix the scooter yourself, they have a corner on their little market, and are not giving it up easily. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.....anywhere else.

Terrible

The brand of scooter they sell is extremely unreliable. It's a type of scooter that you can buy under a number of different brand names for half the price. They justify the higher price with a ""warranty"" that they will cancel when your scooter breaks down - and it will. The owner is a sleazy salesman who will think nothing of ripping you off. The best part? In Louisiana there is no Lemon Law for scooters so they can get away with whatever they want.
