Please find a more competent group of doctors, 5/29/2014

I am convinced I had a late term miscarriage due, in part, to their lack of knowledge and concern. I was told that the bleeding I was experiencing early on was "just one of those things" and none of... the doctors showed any concern. At 16 weeks when the baby's heartbeat was difficult to find, I was told that an ultrasound wasn't necessary and would just be a waste of time. I honestly feel like had I been referred to a specialist at the start of my pregnancy, my baby would have had a chance. Even if that is just wishful thinking, the fact remains that the doctors are arrogant and condescending. When I has my second baby there I was told by their most senior doctor at the time that I had to have a scheduled c-section even though my baby was quite healthy and right on track. When I politely insisted that I would like to go ahead and try a vaginal delivery, the doctor practically threw a fit and told me I was selfish for putting my baby at risk by having him vaginally. He also told me that he hated when women thought having one or two kids gave them an honorary medical degree. Well, I'm happy to say that I delivered a beautiful, healthy baby right on his due date and I didn't have so much as a tear. At first I chalked the incident with the doctor up to the fact that he was just an arrogant a--, but after dealing with SCWHOBGYN on subsequent occasions I realize that the real problem is that the doctors see you as nothing more than a paycheck. This is a horrible practice.

Agreed on all of the above. Not only were several physicians condescending and unprofessional, I had a rather upsetting experience in which while I was in the stirrups, the technician assisting my... doctor stood at the end of the exam table, looking at me saying "I know you from somewhere, right?" ("I don't think so") "No, you work at..." (named my employer) and kept on as I squirmed with self-consciousness. When I mentioned how uncomfortable I was, the doctor expressed how she didn't understand why going to the gynecologist was a big deal and why people were so shy about it. I am a very modest person with a history of abuse. It was a big deal to me. Never went back.

Don't waste your time or risk your pregnancy

By far the worst experience I have ever had at a doctors office. I am so glad to read the other reviews and realize that I am not crazy.....like they try to make you feel if you have an issue. The triage nurses act like you are a pain in the rear when you call. The wait times are very very long. The billing is a nightmare. They billed me incorrectly and it took 8 months to get resolved and this is after hours of holding on the phone and finally getting my insurance to call them and threatened their network provider status. The doctors gave me wrong information about my pregnancy and disregarded concerns I had and I subsequently had a miscarriage. Dr. Shepherd is by far the worst experience I had at this practice. Please take the reviews seriously and have your baby somewhere else. I was also glad to see that I was not the only one who got billed for a pap smear incorrectly.

Never Going Back

Ridiculous. I just left this place after my first visit for an abnormal pap smear at my family physician. I am NEVER going back. My appointment was at 920 am. I arrived five minutes early and had already filled out my paperwork online. I waited until approximately 10 am to be called back to the drs waiting room. Then waited until 1045 to see the dr. The nurse was rude. The dr came in and said nothing was wrong and a lot of people have abnormal pap smears. I had to pay 30$ before I could leave and that's after my insurance... I didn't even receive an exam! Just a conversation w the dr. 3 other families stormed out of the front waiting room bc of their lengthy waiting time and said they would never come back. I will never go back either. Terrible experience.

Numerous unanswered calls

Well, I have called this office several times and left messages because noone EVER answers their phone. I can't even get them to fax my records to another office even though i faxed them a request in writing TWO times (they claimed they didn't receive them even though I have confirmation they did). I hate to switch practices in the middle of a pregnancy, but they have given me every reason to do so!

I will drive to Atlanta for a better doctor!

The wait time is long, the nurses and doctors give bad advise, and you feel like a number. With my first pregnancy, I had told them that I had a blood disorder (which can cause blood clots and miscarriages) and they did not know anything about this. I began bleeding at 10 weeks and I scheduled an appointment (which I thought they would give me an ultra sound to check) but they said that bleeding is common and even though I waited an hour to see them, they would not give me an ultra sound! After an hour of waiting they said to come back at 12 weeks. I went home and the bleeding was driving me crazy, so I called and demanded them to give me an ultra sound. Sure enough, I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks, and they told me to go home and have the miscarriage at home. I ended up in the emergency room because of the blood loss (it was scary!) and the fact that they did not give me the D&C immediately. When I told them about this, they did not say anything. I tried to tell them again that I had a blood disorder, and went to see another doctor there. She said that the blood disorder was not that bad and that "some doctors would say to put me on blood thinners or to see a high risk doctor, but she would say no." With this bad advise, I had another miscarriage. I then had advise from a friend who had the same blood disorder (and 4 miscarriages) to go to a Reproductive Endocronologist. Now I am pregnant and everything is going well, thanks to the Lovenox and extra care I needed.

If you want to be another number

You will wait forever to schedule an appointment. Wait forever once you are in the office to see the Doctor. No one will remember your name or who you are even after you have been going to their practice monthy for your whole pregnancy. PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Their lack of attention is dangerous.

Worst experience ever!!

After taking 20+ minutes to schedule, and nearly 2 months to get in, I had the 'pleasure' of waiting another 45 minutes to see the doc (she was running late, what a surprise!). Docs were talking in the hall about other patients problems, and laughing!! I don't have any insurance and was charged over $300 for my pap. I will never go back.

Switched Doctors...

I was a patient 6 years, delivering 3 babies. Individually, I loved all the midwives. Scheduling appointments was always a headache, but I hung in there because I liked them. Between pregnancies, I had some abnormal test results, and the doctor had a nurse call me, explain the results, and give me the next course of action over the phone. A few years later, I was scheduled with a different doc for my yearly exam. Again, I had an abormal result. When the nurse called to tell me, she said I would have to come in to the office to get the "next course of action". I asked if she could tell me over the phone to avoid the $40 co-pay (since they had done that before). I was told to reschedule when I was able to pay. This lead me to believe the results were more severe than last time, so I rescheduled a few months later when I was financially able. After worrying for months and then sitting in the waiting room for OVER AN HOUR, the "course of action" she had to discuss with me IN PERSON (and with paying a co-pay, remember) was to "come back in 6 months for a repeat exam". I see no reason why I couldn't have been told this over the phone. I switched doctors and found a much more compassionate doctor who not only sees me in a timely matter but called me herself after my first visit with my test results.
