Stay Away!, 4/07/2009

I went to this dentist group 5 times and very much regret picking based on location instead of recommendations. The first visit recommended a cleaning which wouldn't be able to be scheduled for... another 4 months. Waiting 4 months for a cleaning? They also said I had 4 cavaties that would need to be fixed on two separate appts. When I went to have my cavaties filled, the dentist was really old (80s), but friendly. We'll he messed up and filled one of the teeth that was supposed to be on the next appt. This is scary and could have been much worse. He also couldn't tell that he had left a giant chunk of filling on my tooth. The second filling appt went ok and my cleaning seemed good. When I went back for my follow-up appt to the fillings I was told the old dentist was on medical leave. This time I had a woman dentist. This is about six months after my first appt where they identified 4 cavaties. The new dentist told me she saw that I have two more cavaties that need to be filled and possibly the fillings I had just got were close to nerves and would require root canals. Either the first dentist completely missed 2 cavaties or the new dentist was trying to scam me into getting fillings I didn't need. I did get the feeling like the new dentist was a bit of a used car salesman. Not a feeling I'm ok with from my dentist. I will never go back and hope I haven't done too much damage to my mouth.

Good?, 3/24/2009

I am on a quest to find the best dentist. I saw Dr. Hiba K. Malki at Southwest Dental Group in Laveen. It was nice to see a woman dentist for once. I needed 8 fillings - ouch. They didn't show them... to me on the x-rays and I was told they were mostly between teeth due to not flossing. I compared costs with Prime Dental (nearby) and found the price to be the same. I was told they could do 4 fillings in one day and then later told they could only do 2 fillings per day. Then, they actually did do 4 fillings on one visit. Dr. Malki was friendly, but she didn't explain much and didn't stick around for questions. I did ask the hygenist a few things. The only great thing is that they are located very close to my house. I have severe tooth sensitivity now and I am not sure if I will return or not.

Conscientious dental work

Took time cleaning, got on my case about flossing (good thing!), explained what was going on, thorough.
