Disappointing to say the least, 3/03/2011

I used SPS recently for speech services for my toddler. In order to start therapy they insisted on a $450 assessment which had already been completed by another provider (and diagnosis of areas and... extent of speech delay documented) within the 2 months of starting with this practice. During my child's duration of therapy with SPS I had to continually ask for tools/techniques we could work on at home. They were hesitant, but eventually gave me "snip-its" that we could work on at home. In fact,I had more direction/ information by my own knowledge and by looking at resources/articles on the professional speech pathology organization websites and by an out of state SLP (speech and language pathologist) who did the original assessment. When I asked for a plan - short and long term goals/exercises that my child's preschool teachers could work with my child on the therapist told me she was afraid they would "mess it up." Ha! The therapists of SPS were only o.k.,not exceptional/experts as their website would lead. As a healthcare provider myself, I am used to dealing in a multidisciplinary approach with many other professionals and found them at SPS very difficult/exclusive to work with. Time came and I felt another professional could meet my and my child's needs/goals more effectively (and timely). When I requested records from SPS they wanted to charge me a fee to fax the notes to the subsequent provider. A big THUMBS DOWN here! You'll end up investing a whole lot to get low yield
