I need work on my knee and wasted a week trying to go to sports medicine south due to their poor communication. I initially called to ensure they would take my insurance coverage and I was assured they did. After collecting the report and MRI needed and contacting them again due to not recieving the confirmation e-mail they said they'd send, I was assured everything was good. The day prior to my appointment they called to inform me they did not accept my insurance. I have no issue with them not accepting it but wasted a week waiting for the appopintment to only recieve a "we made a mistake". An appology would've been nice.

To whom it may concern, I recently injured my shoulder and needed to see a doctor. One of my friends suggested that I see Dr. Gary Levengood. His practice is called Sports Medicine South and was able to see me right away. His staff was great and took time to find out how I injured myself and what I needed to get back to (golf and running). By the time Dr. Levengood came into the room I already felt he was going to be able to help me. He told me that my X-rays looked normal and after his shoulder exam he felt I had only strained the muscles of the rotator cuff. He gave me an injection of a steroid and then one of his athletic trainers showed me some shoulder strengthening exercises. It has been a week since my visit and my shoulder is now feeling great. Cudos to Dr. Levengood and his great staff!

My son broke his leg at school. Initially, I took him to a certain Orthopaedic office where they immediately ordered an MRI and told me he would need surgery because he tore his ACL and PCL, along with fracturing his leg. I decided to take him to Sports Medicine South for a second opinion. I was able to schedule an immediate appointment for my son. I walked in to a group of concerned individuals that treated both him and I with the utmost respect. Upon seeing Dr. Levengood, he immediately decided that my son's leg could be set and he would have to wear a full leg cast for 8 weeks. Each time my son (being a teenager) broke his cast, they immediately accommodated us. Weeks later, along with some physical therapy, my son's leg is back to normal! ---NO SURGERY! I wouldn't trade this group for the world.

I brought my husband in for an appointment regarding his foot. The young man that assisted us, Eddie, was very kind and explained everything very thoroughly. He spoke very intelligently, but not over our heads. The next time my husband was seen (months later), Eddie assisted us again and remembered us. He even asked how my husband's foot was doing! Very personable staff!
i went to sports med south a few weeks ago for a problem with my elbow that started for no reason. after being seen the same day i made my appt, i realized why my coworker suggested this office. dr. levengood saw me and after telling me my xrays were normal and i had tennis elbow, he explained to me why tennis elbow occurs in ppl that dont play tennis such as myself, and gave me an injection that im sure has cured me. then, one of his staff members educated me further on the problem and showed me how to make sure it doesnt come back with some exercises and use of a brace. their website says their motto is beyond better, and thats exactly how my elbow feels now!! thanks dr. levengood and staff!!
i have been a patient at sports med south for 3 or 4 years and continue to enjoy my visits everytime i have to go to the doctor. although i usually have a bit of a wait, i am usually able to be worked in on the SAME DAY!! i have never been to another specialist that would accommodate a patient like that!! i welcomed everytime by the staff with smiles and hugs.the back office staff never has to look down at my records to know who i am or why i am there..the staff is very well informed and always one step ahead!
Dr. Levengood, a million thanks to you and your staff! As you know, James plays college tennis and while home on break, he was having shoulder pain. It was very short notice but your front desk called me when an appointment opened. Julie was able to schedule a Saturday MRI and Curt gave him PT to do at school. I'm very grateful to you and your excellent team for getting him back on the court.

I recently had a family member that was in need of an Orthopedic Dr. We had a friend suggest Sports Medicine South/Dr.Levengood's office. Upon the initial evaluation, to surgery through the post op visits. The staff, PA's and Dr. Levengood were all very professional, competent and caring. This was a pleasant experience--as this type of experiences go.

After trying about everything for my knee pain I decided it was time to see a doctor. After talking with my neighbor I made an appointment with Dr. Levengood at Sports Medicine South. At my visit the staff was very friendly as the nurse took me back to an exam room. Dr. Levengood first tried a conservative method of treatment with an injection and a brace but when my knee pain persisted, I opted for surgery. At my pre-op appointment the staff explained to me the surgery and what I should expect when the surgery was completed. At my post-op appointments the staff was very helpful in explaining why I was feeling the symptoms I was feeling and what to expect for the rest of the process. SMS did a great job with my surgery and I continue to progress with my rehab currently.

I came to Sports Medicine South for my neck and back due to a motor vehicle accident. When I called I was told that there was nothing available for the doctor but I could see his PA and that I could come that day. I was hurting a lot and wanted to be seen as quickly as possible so I said I would see the PA. I knew that since I was being worked in, there would be a wait. Well, it was worth the wait because once I was back in the room, the staff and the PA treated me like I was the only patient they had. They took the time to really evaluate my injuries and were truly concerned about my well being. I was so thankful to have been able to be seen as quickly as I was and thankful that they were just as concerned about my quality of life as I was. I have continued to rehab my neck and back and am able to get back to doing the things that I was doing prior to my accident. Thank you to the staff and PA at Sports Medicine South. I have and will continue to refer friends and family to Sports Medicine South.

THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE ENOUGH CHAIRS IN THE WAITING AREA FOR EVERYONE WAITING. WHEN I MENTIONED IT TO THE DOCTOR HE TOLD ME ANY PLACE THAT DIDN'T HAVE A WAIT MEANT THE DOCTOR WAS NO GOOD... NOO LEARN HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS YOU IDIOT. WILL NEVER GO BACK.
