I have to concur with the poor reviews on the Springwood. I just had my wedding there in Sept 2010 and it is very expensive and there are so many hidden costs they don't tell you about up front. The woman who runs the place is very difficult to work with and does not like to flex according to what you, the person paying A LOT of money for the wedding of your dreams, wants. Everything you try to add, like walls for the tent (I know this was in a previous review, but it happened to me too) costs extra and they don't even tell you about it until the event date. The food was very good and the location is beautiful, but I would avoid and search elsewhere for a wedding location.

So happy my daughter selected Springwood. We had guests from 20 states and they were amazed a place like this was in Pittsburgh. Venue was beautiful, service was excellent, food was delicious. Highly recommend.

First of all, the place is beautiful. We had a great wedding here and got lots of very nice pictures. The chef is very good and easy to work with if you have specific request. The first down side to Springwood is that it is quite expensive. The initial price is expensive and their favorite word is "extra". Many things that you would assume are included, such as walls for the tent when you've already paid for the tent, are extra. So ask questions about everything, because if you don't you'll end up spending quite a bit more than the already high initial price. However, the biggest down side is that your money doesn't buy you much as far as the management is concern. The women that runs/owns Springwood is very difficult to work with. She is inflexible in the way she runs a wedding and it doesn't seem to matter to her that you are paying the bills. When planning a wedding many things don't workout ideally, but don't expect the management at Springwood to make it any easier. In fact they will be one of the major thorns in your side. All things considered, if you fall in love with the grounds and aren't really considering other places, you will have a beautiful wedding here and the picture won't disappoint. However, if you're on the fence and have alternatives the management at Springwood makes me recommend going elsewhere.

My husband and I just visit Springwood for an anniversary party and it was wonderful. The appetizer table was done well and the dinner was good. The manager told me weddings are pretty at Springwood because of the outdoor wedding sites. It was a bit cold so I didn't walk around to see, but I am sure they are very nice. It really is different from any other venue. If you have time go on their website.

This place is overpriced, poorly staffed and hard to work with. Best Advice: Go Elsewhere! They will charge you upgrades and secret fees after you sign your contract. The chef is so rude and cares nothing about what you want. You will be lucky if you can even get a tasting of your menu choices and they will charge you $200 for it. I have called 4 times to schedule it and they won't even return my calls. I am so mad I am getting married there!
