Long Term Customers Must Not Matter, 2/26/2011

If I was writing this review before my experience with State Soft Water yesterday everything above would be rated 4 or 5 stars. However my experience with the Brighton Location Manager Matt was less... then stellar. I was out of town on business and my wife called State Soft who has been coming out to do maintenance and repair for the last 15 years. Matt made some adjustments on the machine timer, told us her we were missing salt and that a toliet handle was running and there was nothing he could do right now. He was there 10 mins and billed us $95 for his service call. My wife was stunned as there was no extra discussion about coming back and there would be no charge or reduced charge because of the short repair visit. We both were stunned that it cost that much. From the road I called State Soft and talked to Matt who is also the manager and he said basically that a service call is $95 and that is it. I explained to him that we had been customers for 15 years and expected something less of a charge for so little time spent. He did not budge. I asked him if he was sure that he wanted to enforce is charge and not only did he say yes but he hung up the phone on me. He must of left the phone off the hook and then he transfered the office line to the after hours call answering service because I wanted to make sure my phone did not drop his call. Now I am sure he hung up on me. I preceded to call another company whose service fee is $49. It's too bad it ended this way
