I had seen Steve's trucks around Decatur, and when a giant oak tree and another tree fell on my brand new home, I gave them a call. They came right out, gave a reasonable estimate, took the trees off the house the same day, which allowed us to stay in the house and get power back on. They came back the next day to very professionally remove the rest of the trees and did a great job of cleaning up the roughly 10 million acorns (they were everywhere!) and other debris. I can only hope that the rest of the process to getting things back to normal is as pleasant.

I really enjoyed working with Steve, Corey, and the gang. After 4 or so other estimates that were significantly out of my husband's and my budget, I saw a truck with the domain www.treesfearus.com. Funny. Steve has been worked in the Atlanta area for 40 years, and it's hard to find tree people downtown. Our tree was a 75' giant oak tree, beautiful, but being eaten from the inside out by carpenter ants. As it turns out, it was hollow almost 20' high and a danger to house and power lines and others, etc., especially being so top heavy. Power lines: they make it difficult to remove trees. Power company failed to help in any way. But Steve's Tree Service was willing to help. They worked within our budget, took down the tree without any damage in 2 1/2 hours (others had quoted us two days), and were generally nice and gave me tips on other contractors as well as landscaping advice. They seemed to truly care about our situation. The guys that came worked quickly, cleaned our yard, were respectful of our property, and I would definitely call this company again. And for the permit, just Google it and fill in your information online. They'll check your tree, give you a permit (or not), and never notify you! Just look it up again a few weeks later!

After 3 quotes, we decided to go with Steve's because they were the cheapest. Our tree was in a tough location because of fences and a stone patio that we were concerned about damaging. They were in and out quickly and VERY clean. I could hardly tell they were back there other than the sawdust. They did reschedule with us once because they first time they arrived they didn't have enough manpower (they had to remove most by hand because of location). Overall we were extremely pleased and would use again.

I called for a quote on some tree and overgrowth removal work that I need on a property I own in Atlanta. I received the quote a few days later, and I asked them to put me on their books and do the work ASAP. Corey said they needed a permit to cut on tree down, and I agreed that they did. My problem is that it has been two months, and no work has been done, and no effort has been made to actually get the permit and do the work. Their excuse is that they have not received the permit from the city of Atlanta to do the work. I believe that is true, but I also believe that no one at this company has made any effort whatsoever to actually GET the permit from the city. Dealing with the city of Atlanta has its own huge set of problems, but there is no way on this planet that it takes over two months to get a permit to cut down one small tree. I have personally gotten tree removal permits before, and they take (on average) a week to get. After several calls to Steve's office, over several weeks, I received a voice message from Steve himself, who basically told me to F-off and get the permit myself if I wanted the work done. So, with those kind words, I'm on kudzu finding a new tree service and warning others not to bother with this company.
