I have a rather complex skin condition and sought treatment from Dr. Straughn. Initially I was impressed with her thoroughness. However, her staff, and especially her nurse Jaquita are terrible to deal with. They argued with me about faxing in prescriptions (is this the 90's?), they argued with me every time I asked a question about one of the five different medicines they prescribed. They loaded me up with meds and referred me to another doctor at Emory when they could not figure out my condition. When I called the next about a side effect the response was "our meds should not cause that but if YOU feel like they're related then YOU should stop taking the one that is causing it." How in the heck am I qualified to determine which medications I should take or to evaluate whether or not a side effect is serious in comparison to my treatment? Her response to that was "you are seeing another doctor on Monday, ask them". Don't waste your time and money here if you have anything other than a simple rash.

As a potential new patient, I was referred to dermatologist, Dr. Sherri Staughn by a co-worker. Unfortunately, I am not able to tell you how great my experience was because I never got a chance to see her. My appointment was scheduled for 8:30 on Thursday morning, March 17, 2011. I arrived a few minutes early because most of you know there are several forms to fill out. As I approached the office door, a young lady was approaching also. I'm guessing this may have been the receptionist or office manager. She stated, "You may want to go back to your car and wait until 8:30, that's when we open". I was SHOCKED. Okay, it is now 8:30, "APPOINTMENT TIME", the door is locked, I knocked, the same young lady told me to go back to my car, she would come and get me when she is ready for me. WHAT!!! Remember, my "scheduled' appointment was for 8:30. As time ticks by, I could not wait any longer because, get this - - the DOCTOR was not there and the receptionist did not know when she was to arrive. Okay, it is now 8:40, I am leaving and she states, "I will call you to re-schedule your appointment. One week later,I am still waiting on that phone call.My time is valuable. I had to go to work. So if u do go make sure that u have all day your time is not value.

I have been to many dermotologist but none as good as Dr Sherrie-Ann.... She broke down every option for me and let me be a part of my treatment. she is fair honest and the BEST dermatologist! my skin has NEVER looked or felt better and I have only been going for a little over 2 months. I would refer her to anyone. I did everything she said to do and have had a wonderful experience. She is always open to my questions and addresses each and every concern I have. The location is VERY convenient, I could not be happier.

I took my son for service. She diagnosed the problem & prescribed him (a 2yr old) a pill. She said the liquid form was too expensive & the insurance would not cover it. My son adamantly resisted taking these pills whether we crushed in it food, ice cream, or anything. I called the office to ask them to call in the prescription for the liquid form & the receptionist took my info & said she'd call in the liquid form. When we got to the pharmacy the hadn't call it in. Upon calling the office back to ask what happened they said there is no liquid form. Upon my followup visit I asked the Dr. what happened to the liquid form b/c he wouldn't take the pill. She replied rudely "ok well his hair is going to fall out" & that she has kids so she's knows we can make him take the pills. She said the liquid form was just as nasty & if we can't make him take the pill we couldn't make him take the liquid. She walked out & the nurse brought the prescription back. The doc never said she was done w/the visit or how I need to give him the medicine, or even that she was going to write the prescription. She just left the room. All of this was to get a prescription that the receptionist told me they didn't even have & I could have avoided the long visit if they would have just called in the prescription! Ironically, my sons takes the liquid form with NO issues & his scalp is clearing up! Also, she had a team mtg in the middle of my visit. I left feeling like she was treating me at her expense!

I highly recommend Dr. Straughn, and I am saddened to hear the bad experiences of others that have posted. I can only say that she was very thorough and has done an excellent job of taking care of my skin care needs. I will definitely say that I have only had about a 30 minute wait when I have visited. For that wait, I received Dr. Straughn's undivided attention and a very detailed description of my skin condition and ways to address it, unlike some doctors who rush in and barely listen to you and give you time to describe and understand your ailment. She also provided what should have been a paid service, for absolutely free to me and asked that I pass the gift on. That to me is not indicative of someone who does not care about her patients. I say give her a try as she is very knowledgeable and decide for yourself. Happy Holidays!

I am still very satisfied with Dr Staughn and her staff. She is very thorough, listens to my needs, and we have finally found medications to deal with my acne. I will continue to see Dr Straughn and will recommend her to anyone who asks me for a dermatologist.

I began seeing Dr. Straughn 14 years ago when she was at Piedmont Towers. I was a regular patient using her services for mole removal, acne treatment, and scar revision. When she moved to her new location (hartman ct), I was excited b/c of the free parking and convenient location, but the business is not run well. Long wait times, even when there was only 1 other patient, and she breaks up office visits into unnecessary follow-up appointments which is expensive for the patient. I went in to have 2 small moles removed and Dr. Straughn only removed 1 mole and wanted me to return for a 2nd visit to remove the other mole. I agreed, but found it odd. At the 2nd visit, she removed my mole and asked me to come back for a 3rd visit to discuss the results when the lab completed them. I found her request odd, so I visited another dermatologist and was informed that insurance will pay for up to 3 mole removals per visit, and that is what I did-- I had the rest of my moles removed by another dermatologist. The new doctor also sent my lab results in a sealed postcard or gave me the option of receiving the results by phone so it was only 1 office visit--there is no reason to return for a visit unless the results are malignant. I stopped seeing Dr. Straughn after that b/c I felt she was billing my insurance for multiple visits to make extra money and I thought that was unfortunate and dishonest.

Dr Straughn is good, but that is no excuse for her to employ such a rude and unqualified staff. I dread calling there, even to schedule, because they are so inept. They mess up appointment times and locations, and don't seem to even care. The latest incident was me calling in to pick some samples up from the dr. I called the day before, and the person answering the phone took my info and put me on hold, then came back and said it was ok for me to pick up the items the next day. The next day, I called when I was on my way, because I feared that the useless staff would mess something up. Sure enough, the SAME girl answered, and said there was no sample there for me, and that Dr Straugh was at the other location the day before, and could not have authorized leaving the sample. She then asked me who I talked to the day before. I told her she didn't give a name. She said well I was the only person answering the phone, and I don't recall the conversation. She also was talking to her co-worker and ignoring me as I was in mid-sentence. This is the 3rd such incident in less than a year of going to this dr, and I have had enough. I plan to contact her, but I doubt if I can get through these gatekeepers. I am certain that no complaint will get to her either, but she MUST know how terrible her staff is.

They billed insurance for a surgery, when in reality it was in-patient removal of mole. Refused to correct issue. Costs me a lot of money. They refused to correct issue. I could not get a billing manager to come to the phone. Staff was not only rude to me. Staff was rude to my insurance company.

I was a patient of Dr. Straughn's for several years and found her competent and on top of things. Not chatty, not smiley, but a good doctor. That all changed, however, once she moved her office from a tower to a little cottage in Buckhead. The staff in the 'greeting room' became unbearably rude, and you can hear them talking openly in the hallways about their personal problems and work issues. Dr. Straughn was also very distant and didn't even make eye contact with me and seemed to object to even listen to me tell her about my problems. She even interrupted our exam to go out in the hall and respond to the staff about another patient. I heard the patient's name, their problem, their diagnosis, etc. Never again Dr. Straughn. Get a bedside manner, pronto.

I went in to see Dr. Straughn with severe acne on my back and a rash. She took the time to inform me of all the options to help me. I felt that she was open to my and honest about my situation and is helping to improve my quality of life. I would recommend that anyone with skin issues visit her office for help.

I went to Dr. Straughn because of her convenient location to my work. I went during my lunch break, so I thought the appointment was going to be 1 or 1 1/2 hours at the most. When I arrived, I ended up waiting for over an hour before I even saw the doctor. Once I was called into the doctor's office, I waited another 20 minutes to actually see the doctor. Once I finally saw the doctor she spent 10 minutes with me and said that I had rosacea and would have it for the rest of my life. She said that my acne would never completely disappear unless I got laser surgery. I do not believe that these statements were completely true as I have gotten second opinions from other doctors that are different. I would not recommend going to this doctor if you would like efficient service and accurate diagnosis.

I went to this doctor several times and didn't have any problems. Then I tried to get a prescription refilled. The staff told me that the doctor wasn't available for a week to approve the refill. Then when I called back a week later after it hadn't been refilled, the staff was rude and hung up on me. When I called back they put me on hold and hung up on me again. I would never go back.
