Find another dance studio, 7/17/2012

My daughter learned a valuable life lesson about individuals and character, and not in a positive way. At this school unless your child is one of those naturally inclined individuals, you will spend... a great deal of money and many hours of your time for your child to be in the back, waiting in the wings, or standing in a pose. The background of the staff is nothing outstanding or unusual; most every north metro Atlanta studio has former or current professional dancers/actors on staff. My daughter enrolled at another Gwinnett County dance studio and learned that her technique, flexibility and skills were nowhere near what she was capable of. With teachers who took the time to help her with the things she specifically was lacking, she excelled at the other studio. There's a trend among many who attend this dance studio. Enroll, stick around a 2 or 3 years, then go elsewhere. It's been like this since they've been in business. A few will be stay, but it's very few compared with other studios around metro Atlanta. I attribute those who stick around to not knowing that things can be different. Kids can learn dance without all the baggage thrown on them by this studio.

You Won't Regret It!, 3/25/2011

I danced one year at another ballet studio in the area, and made the change to Susan's because I wanted to do more styles including tap, hip hop, musical theatre, etc. Instantly I saw an improvement.... Their ballet teachers have trained professionally and one has even danced at the Kiev academy and danced principle roles such as Juliette in Romeo and Juliet and Giselle. Their musical theatre teachers have been on Broadway and are/were Rockettes. The list could go on and on but basically it is a very credible studio known as one of the best in the Southeast. Sure, the competition and critiquing can be tough, but their simply getting you ready for the business...and life in general! Whether you're interested in being and intensive or recreational dancer...of any age or gender, this is the place for you! Come to Susan's and try a class, you'll see for yourself, it's no doubt the best in the area. Not to mention home to some of the best dancers in the country!

Reccomended by the Broadway Show Billy Elliot

My son auditioned in NYC for a role in the Billy Elliot Show and they liked him. The dance coach wanted to improve his tap skills so they hired Paige Chambers of SCSD to be his personal tap coach. I have an email from the BE dance coach that says my son is with their best dance coach outside of NYC. He takes 6 hours of private lessons and 5 hours of regular classes per week and he loves the teachers, staff, and other students. When in the advanced class he stands in the back row (which is proper etiquette) and he realizes that it takes time, effort, and hard work to move up. The SCSD is a fantastic school which we highly recommend. When our son is on stage performing in the Billy Elliot Show I know it will be a direct result of the training he recieved at the SCSD. Any negative reports must surely be from jealous competitors?

Julliard Professor teaches at Susan Chambers Dance

I just have to rave about my daughter's voice training that she is getting at Susan Chambers Dance. Her voice teacher flies in from NYC every 5 weeks to teach at Susan Chambers, where he coaches Broadway's biggest stars and teaches at Julliard. The connection was possible from Susan's daughter, who previously appeared on Broadway and this was her vocal coach in NYC. Not only is my daughter getting incredible dance training, but also the best vocal training in the country. We cannot thank you enough!

My Daughter's Teacher is a Current Rockette!

My daughter just loves the Rockettes. And her teacher, Miss Carolyn, is a current Rockette! Kelsey was so excited to go and see her dance teacher perform onstage with the world famous precision troupe. Kels will never forget seeing Miss Carolyn up on that stage, and she looks forward to taking class every week with her. Thanks so much!

Proceed with Care

This school is good if your daughter wants to be a rockette. However, the dancers trained at this school end up looking like ballerinas in high school shows that include dancers from less stodgy schools. If you want your daughter to really enjoy their dance education or to learn any less conservative form of dance, find another school.

Great dancing school!

My daughter Chelsie just started dancing at the age of 17. She is in the Adult/Teen Jazz class in Alpharetta and loves it! There are others in the class who are really new to dance and she feels right at home here! Thanks!

The Best in the Southeast

What can I say about Susan Chambers? I have two daughters, one is in the dance company, and one dances for fun. They both love it here! My 13 year old has been awarded scholarships to Joffrey Ballet in NYC, Broadway Dance Center in NYC, and Steps in NYC. She gets amazing training five days per week here and wants to be on Broadway! She takes all forms of dance, as well as acting and singing. My 10 year old takes hip-hop and loves it. It has really built her confidence. We take classes at the Alpharetta and Suwanee locations. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

I made the switch to Susan Chambers

My daughter Sarah was 10 years old, and she had been dancing at another studio in the area since she was three years old. I switched because I felt that Sarah was not improving, and there were a lot of teenagers teaching her classes. I was appalled at what I had been paying for at my previous studio when I saw the tap classes at Susan Chambers where 7 year old's were more advanced than my daughter at 10- I was amazed! But with a lot of patience and support from the school, Sarah was placed in a perfect class and was right where she needed to be. She has been dancing here for three years and is getting better each year- although I have never danced I can see a big difference. I just wanted Sarah to get the best opportunity that she could have, and now that she is 13 she is thinking about trying out for the dance company. Definitely try it out! It was worth it for us.

Not good for learning how to dance

If your not a strong dancer they make you stay in the back of the room. That won't help you improve.

Terrific School For All

Had a great year at SCSTD. My child learned so much and was very happy with her teacher. The recital was amazing! I enjoyed all of the dancers, actors and singers. Her grandparents even enjoyed every moment. Opening with that ballet was breathtaking and the ending tap number was absolutely exciting. I've never seen a recital like this. Even the babies were actually dancing and having fun! We will definitely back.
