Illiana and I spoke long before the bridal shower I was throwing. I let her know what cake the bride wanted (red velvet), that she was allergic to nuts(!!!), how many it needed to feed, that we would need delivery, and what the cost would be? (quoted 40.00). The day before the wedding, the bride had a cake delivered to the rehearsal dinner. That was when Illiana wanted to collect for the cost of the cake I ordered for the next day. She asked for 100.00!!! Considering we were right in the middle of the rehearsal and I was caring for the ring bearer and flower girl to boot, and only had cash... and didn't want to raise a fuss, I forked over the money, frustrated, and tried to keep myself on task. Also, the bride had her wedding cake due the next day, and with the poor ethics already shown, feared rocking the boat. I asked for a receipt when the cake was delivered when paying her. It was not provided, then nor at the delivery. I was going to use that to confront her of the change in price... but without receipt, and because I was pigeonholed into paying cash and she couldn't give an immediate receipt, all was lost. Admittedly, she seems a sweet girl. Utterly unorganized, but she tries, and is apologetic when she is muddle minded (by phone, both times). She may have been distracted when she quoted the original price, or when collecting it. And forgot the receipt. The cakes are really good. out of ten, I'd rate then an 8, very good. But business ethic...O. Beware.
