Very unpersonal ""Personalized Facial""
I visited Eva Szabo's Spa in Shadyside for a ""Personalized Facial"".Rarely have I felt so umcomfortable in spa. First of all, I did not feel welcome. Neither the lady at the front desk nor the cosmetician were able to appeare somewhat friendly. The cosmetician did not introduce herself to me. She accompanied me to a small room that was more like a closet and only told me to change into gown and lie down. When she came back, she just made some adustments about my position and then started a thorough cleansing with steam and facial massage techniques (totally fine), the manual extraction (I was ok with this being somewhat painful; it was not my first facial and do want to have this done properly). She gave me a facial mask, massaged my scalp, neck and shoulders a little bit and then left me alone for a while. People were talking loudly outside and I was not sure if I'm supposed to relax now or if she will be back soon. I was a little puzzled that up to this point she was very silent and did not give me any information on what is happening. I expected her to analyze my skin and ask me questions (possible intorlerance of certain products/ingredients, life style etc.) or tell me anything about what she's doing (e.g. what products she's using) - actually, I was waiting for my ""personalized"" facial to begin, but it never happened. Also, she did not give me that ""hand massage with warm mitts"" that according to their leaflet should have been part of my facial. When she came back, she simply took my facial mask off (not with a compress - how disappointing!), put something on my face that probably was a moisturizer and only said ""Very nice. Take your time."" A bit confused I asked her if we are done now. Well, we definitely were done. She left the room and I looked into the mirror. Of course, after a manual extraction you know that you don't necessarily look like you want to go on the street without make-up, so I used my own concealer that I always have with me. Previous

Nothing Special
My best friend and I decided to have a girls day and treat ourselves to a manicure and pedicure at a ""real spa."" Eva Szabo seemed to be a good choice. The spa in the South Hills was always very highly rated. I have to say, for what we paid, it was rather a disappointment. There was no offer of a refreshment at the beginning of the visit, which I have definitely come to expect from a better salon or spa. I found the atmosphere to be somewhat austere, not particularly relaxing or inviting. The pedicure itself was neither wonderful, nor below expectations. The manicure was pretty much the same, so-so. It was all very average. When asked for advice on nail colors for the holiday season, the attendants really offered no input on what is trendy, sexy, or unusual. They were certainly friendly, but not particularly knowledgeable or professional. I have to say, I expected to be pampered a little bit more. I have three kids, so a day at the spa is very special indulgence for which I have to pay a sitter and schedule time. I expect it to be a little bit more special. I think if they are going to charge the prices of an upscale spa, they need to pay more attention to customer service.

WORST FACIAL EVER! BEWARE
I made an appointment for a deep pore cleansing facial at 9am and got there before my appointment time. The lady asked me to wait outside because my attendent did not arrive yet. I was a bit upset, but didn't mind. I went back inside the spa at 9 and had to wait another ten minutes before my attendent came out. She did not ask me about my skin nor my type of skin, and she did not examine my skin before starting the facial. All I was told to do was change and lie donw on the table. I felt it was a bit unproffessional, but again I let it go. The facial started to get worse when she began extracting my pores-might I add was very painful! She did not stop and asked if it hurted, but kept continuing to push the extractor into my skin. The process lasted for 15-20 minutes which was hell. The mini massage she did on head was not at all satisfactory. The worst part of it is, the next day I broke out. I had cystic acne appear where I never had before! she also left a scab on my forehead, which unfortunately will become a scar. I am so mad and angry I will never set foot in Eva Szabo ever again. ***Please have your attendent be beware of your skin type prior to her touching your face!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!
I had a cellulite treatment at Eva Szabo's salon and it was the worst spa service and customer service I have ever experienced. I'm actually pretty slender but like to get spa treatments every so often and having not exercised much this winter I thought I'd try this treatment to see what the results would be.\r\rFirst, while in the waiting room I heard the person who would be my attendant talking on their cell phone, complaining that they were supposed to leave but that another customer walked in (me; I made the appt 2 days prior - why was she leaving???)\r\rSecond, a different person came in to check on me and then quickly left. That same person came back in at the end of the 45 minutes to tell me that my original attendant had left for a family emergency. . . .\r\rBy this time, I am dripping with sweat, I've been wrapped in a heated blanket for the last 45 minutes - a good sweat but sweat nonetheless - this second attendant hands me a furry blanket in case I want to cover up while she's undoing the heated blanket - a FURRY blanket?? Then she says to get dressed and she'll wait outside. \r\rWhere was the shower so that I'm not putting my clothes on over my sweat drenched body?? Where was the cool rag to even wipe myself off with?? Was that was this thick furry blanket was for??\r\rThis was the biggest waste of $125 I've ever spent. Eva needs to take her team to Nemacolin or other true day spa and see what customer service is like. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!!\r
