The young adult program is 90 days but the average patient is usually there for at least 1-3 weeks more. Insurance was not accepted (not sure if they have changed that policy) so the entire program can cost well over 100,000 by the time you complete the program. The fees include the actual 90 day program, drug testing, medication, doctor visits, extra groups, outings, etc. The fees never end, even after you leave treatment. Talbott has a reputation for treating professionals and wealthy young adults. As long as you continue to pay, they will continue to charge you for all types of 'necessary' treatment. Even therapy (family and individual) is billed separately from your basic treatment fees. After graduating the program, you are suckered in to returning for months of outpatient treatment and encouraged to return for drug testing. Both cost thousands of dollars. They encourage you to keep your therapist and psychiatrist who cost more than the average doctor. This program has suffered because of the economy and has frequent employee turnover. They control patients and their families using threats and intimidation. One of the easiest ways to scare the family of an addict into paying more money is to tell them their child/spouse/sibling will relapse and die if they leave treatment. They employ some very talented doctors and the treatment model is ok but they have become more focused on making money and filling beds than on providing sound patient care.
