Tek Media has been late on every deadline, broke our cameras, and is trying to charge us extra for their incompetence. I teach a high school video program, and we have two Canon XL1s's that had some minor problems. I took the cameras in for a quote, and they said they needed to replace the main board in one camera and that there was a bunch of additional maintenance and cleaning, total price tag $1500. That was more than we could pay, so I asked for the cameras back so we could use them for filming while we raised the money. They said they needed to "put them back together" and it would take 2 days. As soon as we got them back and turned them on for a weekend shoot, we noticed that one of them was displaying only the red channel, and the other had no picture whatsoever and no communication with the lens. In a panic, we called them to see if they could fix them so our shoot could happen as planned. Their response: "We close in about an hour. That's not really our problem." We couldn't use them, but eventually came up with the money, and they said it would take a week. They've pushed that back multiple times with excuses, and now all of a sudden one has "color problems" and the entire CCD prism assembly needs to be replaced, which is another $700. They deny damaging the camera and refuse to cover the cost themselves. To summarize, a high school class has spent $1500 in order for Tek Media Group take 6 weeks to break one of our cameras and demand $700 for it.
