I took my Camry to Toyota of Temecula for service. It cost more, but I wanted the work done right. They later called and told me I needed the fuel injectors cleaned and a transmission flush because the fluid was "burned" (an extra $275). I didn't do it. I took the car to a friend of mine who owns a transmission shop. He said there was nothing wrong with the fluid. I chalked it up to an honest mistake. I next took it in for a major service including the timing belt. When I dropped it off, I heard a service advisor telling someone on the phone they needed their fuel injectors cleaned and transmission flushed because the fluid was burned.... This time someone dropped a tool on the bottom of the windshield and cracked it below the hood. They did not tell me about it. As I drove away I saw the crack. I got the service manager and asked to see the inspection sheet they filled out on my vehicle. There was no damage noted anywhere on the car. The manager then said because the car had 90,000 miles on it, he wouldn't pay for the indshield!! He said he would install one at their cost!! After an argument, I went home and called someone higher up at the dealership. She agreed with me and replaced my windshield. Why did it have to come to that? I know several people with Toyotas in the area and have heard the same type of story from them. If you're looking for an honest mechanic, this ain't the place!
