Thai Basil and Sushi Zen

Ordered take out last night from this place. We were told 20 minuteswell, I arrived and waited and waited. Finally, the manager told me it could be another 30 minutes!!! When I asked for a small discount for the wait, he told me to leave the restaurant!!!!! Never have I been treated that way. Will be filing a complaint with the BBB

Last night was the final straw for this place. We ordered a sampler platter, coconut soup, salad with ginger dressing, and Pad Thai.

The good: The Pad Thai, coconut soup (Tom Ka Kai), and sweet tea were excellent.

The bad: The sampler platter was horrific due to bad breading on the Calamari and presumably bad oil affected the Calamari, Crab Rangoon, and Spring Rolls.

Additional bad: The place was packed so tight that we were basically eating with our 'neighbors' and we were empowered to hear the raunchy bedroom details of a middle-aged woman sharing with her 'girlfriends'. The lady was a little loud and very drunk, but come on, a little more space between tables would be nice.

There are many other sushi and Thai options. so avoid this place if you can.

BTW, the "Sushi Zen" on Whitlock Road is a much better place and I suspect it isn't owned by the same people due to differences between the operations.

My family and I love Sushi Zen! The Thai and Sushi does not dissapoint! The food always tastes fresh and is reasonably priced.

The service is typically good, but as others have stated, takes a hit when the place gets crowded. This is to be expected.

The restaurant is a bit small, but I think that adds to the ambiance.

I feel fortunate to have this place nearby and always recommend it to friends and family.

We moved from Okinawa Japan and this is the best we've found locally.
Amazingly good for being in a land-locked region.
Eat eat eat.

The freshest sushi around. Karen and Jennifer are the best hostesses and the food is to die for. Try their sushi of the month specials and their $1 Sushi Mondays are a wonderful bargain. Can't sit inorder take away or have it delivered, if you live nearby.
