The Academy at Paul Mitchell Austin is the ""GO TO"" place
I have been going there to get my hair colored and cut for more than 5 years. They have always done a beautiful job with my hair and I am a critical customer. I am going again tonight! Nov 2, 2011\r\rI have had it colored red (a difficult color when you are trying to cover grey), highlighted with beautiful blonde highlights, colored brown and then highlighted again with blonde and then colored back to red and then more highlights. Now I am just coloring the roots back red to match the existing red that shows through the blonde highlights and they do a beautiful job each time. I go every 3-4 months and am always doing something different. I bore easily:) \r\rThe students are always polite and respectful of what I want and what will be good for my hair. The teachers (Nadine I've known since I started going there) and the managers (Louis I met a year or so ago when he was a student and did my hair many times) are quite attentive. The students are very conscientious about consulting the teachers with every detail of the coloring and cut. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.\r\rI drive out to Pflugerville after 5:00 to go to this school from Austin, a 22 mile round trip up and back on I35 at rush hour and I intend to continue. So for my money (very near and dear to me, which is why I go to Paul Mitchell in the first place) they are a wonderful team and have never given me reason to go elsewhere. \r\rKathleen Lawson \r\rP.S. I went last night and instead of just getting a retouch, the supervisor talked me into getting it all colored, over the blonde highlights that had grown waayaayayayy out and brightening up the color making it a beautiful honey brown and I couldn't be happier. The stylist's name is Chris B. and she is wonderful. Ask for her and tell her I sent you, please:)

Avoid this place at all costs?your hair will be destroyed!
""Not only will I never go to this dreadful ""salon"" again, I will never buy a Paul Mitchell product, buy a magazine with a Paul Mitchell ad, or even *speak* to someone named Paul again.Let me start by saying, I know this is a school, and I know that at a school the students are there for a learning experience, so there will be some misses among the hits. But first and foremost it is a business, and as a business it has totally failed its obligation to conduct itself fairly as ALL businesses in this country are expected to.I first went in 2 weeks ago and got one of the worst highlight jobs I have ever gotten in my life. Not only were they big chunks of uneven color haphazardly placed all over my head, but then there were huge panels of dark, completely untouched hair, giving my hair the appearance of a melted ice cream sundae--not at ALL the natural highlighted look I had very clearly asked for. It was hands down the sloppiest, most unprofessional job I had ever before witnessed on anyone, much less on myself. It was definitely frustrating but she was a student and students are still learning and sometimes they mess up--fine. I arranged to come in to have it redone (by a different student, of course) so I paid for my color and I tipped the woman even though by all appearances she just squeezed bleach and color all over my head.Where I'm from (and I imagine where we're all from), when you get a terrible cut or color, the salon will stand by their practice and offer to fix it for free. It's not even anything that I question: like the sky or taxes, I just know that that code of honor is there and upheld by every legitimate salon and business. Well, I discovered today that Paul Mitchell Academy Partner School may be one of the only salon's that will not only destroy your hair and make you look like a joke, but then they will charge you once more to spend 6 hours of your time bringing it back to a normal state! To be fair, the colorist I got the second time did manage to

Great services from students for less!
The academy is a school, these students are pretty much practicing on you. Most of them know what they are doing. You just have to know who to go to for what. If you are gonna complain about something a student did, just remember that you signed a release form. I give these kids much props. it's a difficult job to please people when they expect ultimate salon results.and obviously they are still learning. They do some pretty amazing hair designs. I have had satisfactory results every time....

Keep away from colorist
I took my daughter here for haircolor last week.We chose the Phase 2 services for the student's experience level. She wanted slight highlights in her dark long hair. She came out with hair that looked an unnatural neon orange. When the hairdresser took off the foil, she commented that ""this makes me sad""; it was way lighter than she thought it would be. She did not offer to correct the color but we could come back (at an additional price) within two weeks to make corrections. We wasted $60 and had to have color redone elsewhere. Never again!!

Awesome facial in the skin depart...See Robi!
I just went there for the first time today & it was amazing. sure, it's a training schoolbut where else can you get a great facial for 20 bucks. It was 50 minutes of bliss.and if you do go, you should ask for a girl named Robi. She was so niceshe even helped me to understand how I can take better care of my skinI was so relaxed when the facial was overI didn't want to leave! So, check out their website (like I did) and give them a callthey seem to offer everything. Next, I think I'm going to go for the light therapy treatment. My skin is glowing & looking better than it has in a long long time....
