The only place we've ever used, 5/06/2011

We have been going to Barking Bubble for almost 20 years and they've always done a great job for a reasonable price. We currently have a very large dog that I know takes a lot of extra effort, but... their pricing has always stayed about the same. and it's usually pretty easy to get an appointment.

No complaints.\rYou people need to relax a bit. \rThey're groomers not accountants.

Not Nice

I agree with the previous reviews, there's been a shift in the quality of service. I have been taking my cat there for several years and had received helpful service. I hadn't had my cat groomed their since late last year and called to make an appointment. I asked about my cat's last visit and the woman said she didn't have that info. Then she said she did have the info but she ""would have to sift through all of her papers"". So I asked again, and she said that she wasn't willing to look up that info for me. In previous scheduling, they have always been able to look up my pet, tell me the last appointment date and affirm the vaccine record I provided. Now I am looking for a new South Austin groomer who is competent in record maintenance and customer service.

My Experience

I have been taking my dog to Pam since she was a year old. The old location was off of Westgate and William Cannon. There I was provided decent service, excellent prices and the convenience of weekend appointments or mid-week appointments with a noon pickup. I stopped going after TWO incidents where her partner (a tatooed, pierced young woman) would yell at the dogs to ""SHUT UP"" after a customer would walk in which would naturally stir the dogs up while in their cages. Should have never went back the second time. I self-groomed for about 6 months and discovered that there was a change in staff and a new location. I take my dog for early saturday appointments ""if"" I can pick her up by noon as I don't like her to be in the cage longer than necessary. No problem. As long as I have her at the shop as she is opening, my dog will be ready to go by noon. This was short-lived. She no longer would guarantee a by noon pick up for a 7am drop off. Are you kidding me? Regular customer here! The cashier told me that they never had that arrangement and that I must be thinking of another place. I wasn't going to argue with her. Rates increase, shoddy grooming, nicks and cuts - I'd had it with these people. Now, to find out that they no longer accept Saturday appointments. Wow. Hope business is good enough to sustain that schedule. I work 8am-5pm like a lot of other dog owners. Having my dog in a cage and knowing other dogs are in a cage 8-9 hours while at work seems ludicrous and cruel. Having found an outstanding groomer recently, I feel bad for my little doggie and feel ashamed for putting her through such a traumatic experience with the Barking Bubble. She now gets the royal treatment, a caring groomer who takes her time and provides a cool, clean, positive environment without yelling, splintered nail cuts and nicks and burns on her back and belly. Good luck and good riddance.

Very disappointed in local groomer

I have had a couple of haircuts on my dogs at Barking Bubble. I like to support local businesses so the first year I overlooked the fact that my female's nipple was cut off, and the second year I overlooked that she was bleeding from a cut on her stomach. I know my dogs have thick coats. Last week, I had an appointment to get a ""wash and brush"" so that I could have a picture taken the following day...when I took her in, they actually REFUSED, saying it would make her coat too tight and brushing would stress her out. Really??? Like getting cut isn't stressful??? I called Petsmart and they had me in by 12:30 and I got the pictures made the following day. I believe the real reason they didn't want to wash my dog -- they already had taken in too many dogs that day, and it would have taken too much time. Petsmart did a wash and wonderful brush out in under two hours. To top it off, they were rude and DIDN'T CARE that I had made a photo appointment based on the grooming appointment. I had told a friend that Barking Bubble was ok (despite the cuts) and she made an appt. -- today, she is cancelling it.....

No trama grooming--these guys are the best!

I've been bringing my Maltese to Pam for 7-8 years. I've been to groomers where the second time around the dogs balked at entering the shop. That never happens at the Barking Bubble. My dog is always happily enter the door. Michelle and Pam let me know when they see anything amiss with my dog, skin problems, flea problems ear problems, anything that looks off, they let me know. \rWhen my first dog was diagnosed with congestive heart failure Pam worked with me to keep her comfortable and groomed. They may not be the newest or most glamorous spot for human taste, the dogs seem happy, comfortable and plushed out. We don't go anywhere else! These guys are the best!

Very old facility, would not recommend

I've been taking my lab to PetSmart Grooming, and after taking him to Barking Bubble, I will continue going to PetSmart Grooming. Way better facility, nicer people, overall much better experience. Would not recommend Barking Bubble. Disappointed.

Great So. Austin Groomer.

I had been looking for a groomer in So. Austin since I moved last year. I tried another place around this area and was completely dissatisfied. Then I called Pam at the Barking Bubble. I did have to wait 4 weeks to get my boys in, since they are soo busy, but it was completely worth the wait. Now I book 8 weeks in advance to make sure I get my guys in there. Excellent service. The boys don't seem to mind going back, which is a great indicator. Would highly reccommend this business.

The Best Dog Groomer in my 35 years of having poodles! Excellent Service, Great with both dogs and cats

Well, Pam is the best dog groomer I have ever had. My miniature poodle mutt never complains when he goes and leaves happy too. He's not full-blooded, but looks like a show dog when Pam finishes with him. She does an excellent job of getting all the hair out of the ears, letting you know if she sees anything that might need a vet' s attention. He's been going for 4 years and never had a razor burn. She does all kinds of dogs and cats too. When I walk in and see her working on another animal, they are always calm, unstressed. She's been grooming for over 15 years and has a reputation of working well with ""difficult"" dogs. As a result, she has lots of standing appointments and in the summer season, call three weeks ahead to get an appointment. The one time I was in a rush and had him groomed at another place, it was $5 more, my dog was completely traumatized, and when I got him home, he had razor burns and nicks. It was awful. I wouldn't take him anywhere else but to The Barking Bubble. Excellent in every way. A dog owner's dream groomer.
