I have been taking my long-haired doxie to this groomer for a couple of years. Service & cost were excellent when I first started, but the last couple of times, it felt ""rushed"" and my dog came home totally stressed out (not good for an older dog!) Also, the owner didn't seem to listen to what type of cut I asked for (the same one since first visit) and my dog came home closely clipped - in NOVEMBER! I was upset when I picked her up, but of course, the owner was long gone (which is most of the time at pickup). I didn't feel it was fair to the young lady to unload my frustrations on her. I am now looking for a new groomer who doesn't use cages and listens to the owner - may cost more but I will pay what it takes for my doxie.

Not recommended for large breed dogs, owner uncooperative
I decided to have my labrador retriever stay for one week at the Canine Castle & Dog deli. They appeared to be a good deal and their location was more convenient than where I normally boarded my dog.\r\rIt was a bad decision on my part.\r\rAll dogs are kept in crates next to and on top of one another. \rThey do go outside on a leash several times a day, but there's no fenced in area for them to run around in. So limited exercise opportunities. \rDogs are only fed 1x per day \rThe owner does not follow care instructions.\r\rAfter one week of being boarded there, my labrador retriever had gained a noticeable amount of weight. He no longer had a noticeable waist. Before boarding, he was at ideal body weight based on vet charts. After boarding, he would be considered overweight by the same chart. I asked questions to determine the cause and found out that the dog had been getting fed 50% more than what we had instructed. I was told ""I'm just a feeder and he seemed so happy to get fed"". Keep in mind many labs (mine included) will eat until they get sick, and then immediately eat some more. Later that morning, I called my husband to confirm he had left specific instructions on how much to feed our dog per day (he had). So, I then called the shop back and asked to speak with the manager. Turns out it was the owner who had overfed him and the owner then went on to angrily tell me that I was ""overly obsessive about my dog's feeding/weight"" and that I ""should just be grateful that he was returned in good health.""\r\rOn a positive note, my dog did not come back sick nor did he smell like kennel. \r\rIf you have a dog that doesn't require much exercise and won't overeat if given opportunity, then this facility might work out well for you and your dog. Otherwise, stay away....
